Twin Peaks Could Receive A Video Game Adaptation, Suggests New Finding

Edward Dennis’ resume recently surfaced in the Twin Peaks community as the young freelance artist/game designer seems to be “working with Paramount Pictures on a video adaptation of their ‘Twin Peaks’ property” (thanks, u/TheCowrus, u/CharlieAllnut). Although it doesn’t specifically mention “video game adaptation,” fans hope it is an upcoming game.

For the uninitiated, Twin Peaks is a highly acclaimed cult classic show from the 90s. It has elements of mystery, horror, comedy, romance, melodrama, and much more. What may pique your interest is that it has influenced several notable titles, including Deadly Premonition, Alan Wake, Silent Hill, and even The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Despite being an older TV show, it has made a few attempts to get back into the media through different means. In 2019, an official Twin Peaks VR game was released, but it was entirely made by one-man studio. As you would expect, the quality wasn’t up to the mark, and no one aside from the dedicated Twin Peaks community even knew it existed. It only received a few reviews on Steam, many of whom were disappointed.

The title became more well-known as a 10-minute walking simulator among the handful of people who played it. Before coming to Steam, it was planned to be released on multiple platforms, but perhaps due to the poor reception, it was ultimately scrapped. On the other hand, David Lynch, the creator of Twin Peaks alongside Mark Frost, was seemingly working on a Netflix series called “Unrecorded Night” in 2019.

Although this show was not confirmed to be related to Twin Peaks, fans of the cult classic were hoping to see something, but to everyone’s disappointment, it was never heard of again, seemingly being canceled. As such, the series itself has remained dormant since 2017, when the third season was released after such a long time. Due to the dry period and considering the IP’s success, it deserves its own video game adaptation.

One of the many reasons fans believe that Dennis’ resume hints towards a video game adaptation is because the freelancer has since removed any mention of the project. After circulating within the community for some time, Dennis could have seen it and decided to remove it altogether. It is also possible that this is entirely unrelated; in either case, we shouldn’t get our hopes too high.
