Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways Sees The Laser Room’s Return

Back when the extremely anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake came out, fans remained in awe (and still do) thanks to the number that Capcom did on the reimagining of its beloved game. It’s a fantastic remake to boot that gets a ton of things right, all the while staying true to the original recipe, but it did miss out on a couple of important features of its older model. Thankfully, the Separate Ways DLC has taken care of that.  

Judging from the DLC launch trailer, if you focus around the 1:25 mark, you’ll visualize the notorious laser puzzle room in brand-new fashion, looking flashier and similarly more menacing than ever. It’s a surprising turn of events though that instead of Leon, Ada gets to show off her agility in the remake. Anyhow, the way things unfold is surely going to be interesting to experience from this mystique’s perspective.

That’s not all that folks have spotted from the launch trailer. In case you have been as eagle-eyed as others, skipping to the 1:40 mark in the same video shows a sizable claw gripping the wall from a corner, thereby making speculation run wild that this could be the terrifying U-3 boss from the original Resident Evil 4 that the 2023-released remake couldn’t incorporate.

In other news, it has been recently unveiled that the download size for the Separate Ways DLC isn’t a cause for concern for those running low on storage. The expansion will reportedly take up 11.6 GB on the PlayStation 5 and 8.5 GB on the older PlayStation 4. Additionally, the game’s length spans a total of 7 chapters—a massive step up from the Separate Ways of the first Resident Evil 4.

Right alongside the arrival of the Separate Ways DLC, the remake’s Mercenaries mode has also seen the addition of two new characters—Ada Wong — who, quite frankly, should’ve made the cut from day one — and Albert Wesker. The new playable figures are due to the courtesy of a free update. As for what’s left, fans still have the VR mode of Resident Evil 4 to look forward to. 

The latter arrives for the PS VR2 sometime later this year; there’s a lack of a concrete release date at the moment. A proper reveal was shown off at the State of Play event this time around, although the game had already been teased in the past.
