Story Highlights
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one the best RPGs to release this year for modern-day platforms.
- The title, despite coming out several months ago, continues to receive updates from Capcom.
- The developer has now planned a fairly special update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 in light of the PS5 Pro.
While panned on launch for reasons more than one, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has outlived its knocks and complaints, turning into a much better version of itself today over the course of its release. The title even welcomed a 60 FPS mode a couple of days ago as Capcom pushed out a new update, but it seems that the Japanese developer is not done with the game just yet.
In a new interview with Famitsu, the development team was asked whether or not there are plans for Dragon’s Dogma 2 to receive more updates in the future. The devs replied with a firm, yes, confirming that Capcom plans on supporting the JRPG for the PlayStation 5 Pro, so those who may purchase Sony’s forthcoming console makes the most out of it as far as this mega-hit title is concerned.
We are planning an update to support PS5 Pro and fix some bugs in the near future,” confirms Capcom.
Elsewhere in the interview, the developers, while cleverly dodging to make any commitments, also note that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has received gameplay improvements mainly over time because that’s what the majority of players asked for back when the JRPG launched.
As part of the ongoing updates since the game’s release, we have released adjustments that will mainly improve gameplay. The team decides on the adjustments based on feedback from a wide range of users, both domestic and international. Some of the feedback we receive is technically difficult to implement, and some takes a lot of time to address.”
The standard PR talk aside, it’s quite likely that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will end up with a story expansion DLC of some sort down the road—it’s just not going to happen anytime soon.
The PS5 Pro Is Getting A Ton Of More Optimized Games On Launch
The PlayStation 5 Pro is hitting shelves in November this year, and as per Sony’s current plans, many big releases are going to arrive optimized for the console as soon as it’s out. Outside of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can also expect Lies of P and God of War Ragnarok to be revamped with updated visuals and smoother frames specifically for the forthcoming system.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was released on March 22, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, selling 2 million copies in 2 months. eXputer reviewed the JRPG, rating it 4.5/5.0, with author Huzaifah Durrani remarking at the time,
Its performance may be disappointing, but don’t let that detract from the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still one of the best RPGs ever made.”
