Jennifer English Is Taking A Break Due To Mental Health Concerns

On an Instagram story (shared by Genki), English said she had “recently” found herself needing to slow down, rest, and look after her health. She described leaving the project as a difficult decision.

She further added she has helped the Tides of Annihilation team find the new actor for Gwendolyn and will remain in an advisory role.

During this transition, I was pleased to help introduce the Tides of Annihilation team to a very talented actor who I believe is a wonderful fit for Gwen.

Although I’ll be stepping away from the role, I’m happy to remain involved with Tides of Annihilation as an advisor. – Jennifer English

Tides of Annihilation also shared the news on X about her departure and further added that their demo at Gamescom will reveal the new actor playing Gwendolyn.

She’s currently recording Gwendolyn’s English performance for our upcoming gamescom 2026 hands-on demo. Players will hear her performance for the first time in the demo this August, as well as in select official updates shared across our channels during the same period.

It is a notable change for a game built heavily around its protagonist, although it does not suggest the wider project is in trouble. The studio had already made a strong first impression, with Eclipse Glow Games starting 2025 on an ambitious note through the title’s reveal and elaborate combat systems.

There is currently no confirmed release date for Tides of Annihilation.
