Arc Raiders Pauses Expeditions Until 2027 To Rework Core Systems

Embark Studios is hitting pause on one of Arc Raiders’ core systems, though the game’s bigger content plans remain unaffected.

Expeditions Are Going On Hold

Embark confirmed in an official post that the 5th Expedition, running September 8 to September 29, will be the last one until early 2027.

“We have been carefully reviewing your feedback on Expeditions, and while we’ve made ongoing improvements along the way, we’ve come to realize that some of the issues you’ve raised, like the tight departure windows, the reward structure, and accessibility for new players, need more than incremental fixes,” the studio wrote.

“They call for bigger changes. In order to address those concerns, we need to pause the Expeditions for a while.”

Embark says more details on what those changes will actually look like are coming in September, and stressed that no progress will be lost during the pause. Consecutive buffs already earned will persist, and players who’ve completed all five Expeditions will get the Zenith Outfit fully unlocked. Any partially completed Caravans will convert into Ermal Vouchers of equal value instead of simply disappearing.

Changes Coming To The Fifth Expedition

The 5th Expedition itself still includes real changes based on player feedback. Players can now opt out of resetting their quest progress between Expeditions, addressing complaints that the questline felt repetitive each time around, though the Hullcracker Blueprint will need an alternate unlock method since it was previously tied to that questline.

The departure window is also extending from two weeks to three, and the “last call” feature, which previously gave stragglers a final signup grace period, has been removed entirely for this run.

It’s worth being clear about what isn’t affected here. This pause is specific to the Expeditions system, not Arc Raiders’ broader content roadmap. Frozen Trail, the game’s largest content update since launch, remains on track for October 8 as previously announced, and the current Trials season continues until September 22 before its own separate two-week break.

Publisher Nexon confirmed the game had crossed 16.3 million units sold as of its most recent earnings report, adding 800,000 units in a single quarter nine months after launch. Choosing to pause a core system during a stretch of continued growth, rather than pushing out quick patches to keep pace, suggests Embark is treating player feedback on Expeditions as a priority worth slowing down for rather than a problem it can patch around indefinitely.
