Armored Core 6’s Customization Options Have Made Everyone Happy

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon just came out, and its customization options have taken the world by storm. You can make just about any type of mecha in this game, and fans have taken that to heart. It’s like FromSoftware wanted it to be a mecha game where you can just build about anything. Whether it be a cool-looking Gundam or a cutesy pink-colored death machine with lots of flowers on it, you can customize your AC in a ton of ways.

As someone who is a diehard fan of the mecha genre, I’ve been absolutely loving every minute of FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6. At first, I was already hyped to get into it, but seeing the fans show off their creativity with such cool mechs, I just couldn’t resist anymore. I just had to get into the game and see what I could come up with. The goal was nothing too ambitious; I just wanted a cool mecha for myself.

The Armored Core franchise has always given the fans massive freedom of customization. Whether it be your build, playstyle, or just the look of your AC, FromSoftware has got you covered throughout the franchise. However, with Armored Core 6, things have gotten even better than they ever were in a multitude of ways, making it FromSoftware’s second-best game up-to-date.

100% Refund On Buy And Sell

In Armored Core 6, you can sell the parts you’ve bought for 100% of the price. Don’t like the look of your AC? Want to change your playstyle? Want to buy a game-changing weapon to deal with a boss but don’t have enough money? Don’t worry; you can sell any part for the full price and later buy it again. This feature gives tons of customization freedom to the players to try out different builds and look to see what works best.

The game may appear difficult at first, but if you’ve got the right parts and the right build, it becomes a walk in the park. But there’s nothing restricting you from fighting the bosses with a build of your choice. Yes, it may take a lot of tries in some cases, but, as always, FromSoftware has designed the game in such a way that you can deal with any boss in a lot of different ways and strategies.

This feature is also exceptionally useful when experimenting with different builds. The parts aren’t that expensive in the game, and you can buy everything from the shop if you replay a few missions a couple of times instead of being locked behind a paywall. The game starts off with only a few parts, but as you progress through the story, you unlock many more parts and build options for your AC, which makes the game feel more complete.

Colors, Emblems, And Decals

One of the things that makes Armored Core 6’s customization so amazing is that you can color just about every part of your mecha. The emblems and decals are completely customizable. That is no exaggeration; you can draw anything you want and use it as a decal for your sexy war machine. And as if that wasn’t amazing enough, you can even use the decals created by someone else via using their Image Editor codes.

This feature opens many windows for freely customizing your AC. You can draw characters, faces, or just something exceptionally cool to go with your absolute unit of a mech as a decal and stick it wherever you wish. The feature has allowed the players to create many different and unique mecha from anime, movies, or other video games, and they have been flexing them over social media, which is all pretty cool.

With the wide variety of different weapons and parts, paired with the multitude of color options and customized decals, anyone can create any type of mech in Armored Core 6, and I think FromSoftware should be given credit for that. It’s nice to see all the customization options available to all the users for completely free in a game that also features PvP gameplay.

AC Data Sharing

Last but not least, Armored Core 6 allows you to share the blueprints of your AC with other players online via a share ID code. With the help of this, you can completely copy someone else’s mecha, along with the decals and color options, and then further improve upon it. This feature is incredibly useful for copying different builds as well as for just style and drip purposes.

This feature can only copy the data if you also own all the parts that the other AC is built with. If you don’t own any part that is used in the other AC, you’ll simply get an error that says you don’t have the required parts to use this AC. But, considering how easy it is to buy and sell parts in this game, you can just sell what you don’t need and buy the required parts or armor.

Keep in mind that you can’t copy AC data sometimes despite having cleared the shop because some parts aren’t even available at the shop yet. You’ll have to progress through the story to unlock some endgame high-quality parts, but once you’ve unlocked and bought them, you’ll be able to use them in your own AC or copy someone else’s AC Data that utilizes those parts.

Takeaway

FromSoftware has done a great job with Armored Core 6, specifically the customization aspect. The lack of any micro-transactions is like the cherry on top of everything good the game offers. You have all the freedom to build whatever you want, however you want. But, not everything is available from the start as more of the stuff only gets unlocked as you progress through the story, which is how it should be with every single-player game.

The option to share the customization with other players is also an incredible feature that is very useful for both new players and old franchise veterans. Part of the charm is spending hours building your own mecha from top to bottom, but if players want to copy someone else’s design and use it for themselves, then that’s great, too.

There aren’t that many good mecha games out there, and I’m very glad FromSoftware decided to bring back the franchise from the dead. Hopefully, the massive popularity of Armored Core 6 will give other gaming studios the opportunity to come up with their own new mecha IPs. I, for one, would love to see the genre grow. But, for now, it’s time to get in the robot, Raven.
