Elden Ring Boss: “Shadow Of The Erdtree Is The First And Last DLC” Of The Game

The title won't be getting any more expansions.

Story Highlights

  • Elden Ring is one of the most famous video games in recent memory, coming out two years ago.
  • The title’s upcoming expansion Shadow of the Erdtree is about to be released later in the year.
  • Hidetaka Miyazaki has clarified that the studio has no plans for more Elden Ring DLC beyond this one.

As if Elden Ring didn’t send shockwaves across the industry when it made landfall, FromSoftware wants to do it all over again with Shadow of the Erdtree. However, beyond that, you can lay your ambitions to rest that pertain to more Elden Ring DLC because FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has made his stance pretty clear on that front, much to the sadness of fans.

Speaking to Campfire Camp in an interview published on Zhihu (thanks Games Radar) Miyazaki was asked whether more Elden Ring projects were in the pipeline, to which he replied,

It is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add more content to Elden Ring. But it has not yet been decided whether the entire story of Elden Ring will be the focus. FromSoftware’s style of doing things is that it generally does not allow the future of an IP to be easily locked, but it is better to leave some possibilities. But as far as Shadow of the Erdtree is concerned, it is the only DLC.” (Translated text).

It bears mentioning that while Miyazaki clearly swept up rumors regarding additional Elden Ring DLC there, he wasn’t so stiff on the thought of an Elden Ring sequel, which, when coming from a company like FromSoftware, sounds absolutely phenomenal.

Other Content to Check Out:

Elden Ring came out on February 25, 2022, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Its upcoming expansion Shadow of the Erdtree has a set release date of of June 21, along with a $39.99 price tag, which I’m sure will be more than just worth paying.
