Elden Ring Finds Itself Returning To Most-Played Charts Following DLC Reveal

No surprises here.

Story Highlights

  • Elden Ring is one of the most popular titles to grace the modern-day realm of video games.
  • The title, shortly after the reveal of its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, has shot up in player count.
  • In terms of Steam users alone, the title has seen a 100% growth in concurrent player count.

Elden Ring, the global sensation by FromSoftware and a genre-defining open-world RPG, has been subject to a whole lot of attention over the course of its DLC expansion reveal—Shadow of the Erdtree. According to PlayTracker on X, the title has shot up in terms of player count, amassing 100% more users on Steam, with the numbers going even up on other platforms, namely Xbox and PlayStation.

Taking a look at SteamDB, you can’t help but notice the massive resurgence of players from across the globe, chiming in just ahead of the release of the long-awaited Elden Ring DLC. At the time of writing, there are about 74,000 users logged into the title’s servers, but if turn back time to only a day back, that figure has gone up to 112,000. Fairly incredible.

Shadow of the Erdtree is going to bring the Tarnished back to philosophical hell, and this time, it seems that our hero character is venturing into the lands of Miquella for a change. The gameplay reveal trailer of the expansion that went live on February 21 has crossed a million views, with fan interest going through the roof. “In the Land of Shadow, Miquella awaits the return of his promised Lord,” reads the DLC’s description.

On a side note, though, it’s been said that Shadow of the Erdtree will feature a Sekiro-like progression system, one that’ll have you coursing through the DLC the way it’s meant to without any shortcuts. Personally, I’m excited to see how that is going to unfold, considering how the base game is much more lenient in this regard.
