Funniest Games With Amazing Humor That You Need To Play Right Now

Kick back, relax, and crack up a bit.

Story Highlights

  • Some video games have a certain way with humor, with them being funny standing out significantly.
  • Titles like Portal 2, Disco Elysium, and Psychonauts deliver the experience of a lifetime with tons of laughs.
  • Not a lot of games are capable of pulling off good humor with enticing gameplay mixed in between.

They say laughter is the best medicine out there, and honestly, the amount of times some games have literally saved my life, that statement cannot be any truer. But the problem is: Are there good enough funny titles in gaming that can give you a proper laugh? Not as many as I would like them to be, but there sure are some worth talking about.

Keep on reading to discover some of the funniest games that you should not be sleeping on.

Get Your Humor In Check With These Titles

1. Portal 2

Belonging to a time when Valve focused on creating new IPs as well, Portal 2 is the sequel to the first Portal from 2007, coming in 4 years after its predecessor, and delivering far beyond expectations. The game’s iconic for multiple reasons, and not just because of its fresh and unique gameplay that builds upon the shortcomings of the earlier Portal. And then, of course, there’s the revitalizing humor of the first-person shooter.

Characters such as Cave Johnson and Wheatley are just so fun, they kill me almost every time I replay the game. The humor’s definitely on point here, and when you combine all that with Portal 2’s plot, you get a supremely solid game that’s worth picking up any day of the week. Here’s a nice compilation of Wheatley — the AI robot — making a killing out there with his lines.

2. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

RGG’s latest commercial success and the continuation of the iconic Yakuza series, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is one of the most fun games around. I mean, this game makes you go up against a freaking Megalodon in a mission, and while it sounds scary, the way the RPG pulls it off is just super hilarious. In addition, the title’s brand-new features, great combat mechanics, and other incentivizing mechanics allows Infinite Wealth to put other JPRGs to shame, just like that.

eXputer reviewed the game and rated it 4.5/5.0, with author Usama Mehmood remarking,

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a JRPG powerhouse, delivering one of the most endearing stories to date and an aspiring open-world design.”

3. Disco Elysium

Moving up on the list, we’ve got Disco Elysium to talk about, which is easily one of my favorite games to ever exist. Seriously though, what this particular RPG brings to the table, most other titles belonging to the genre fail to do so. The plot of Disco Elysium goes like: You’re a detective — mostly drunk — who has to solve unexplored, mysterious cases. It’s pretty grim, but it’ll also give you the most number of laughs out of any other game.

It’s certainly something that deserves more recognition, considering how higher up on the quality tier it genuinely is.

4. Untitled Goose Game

Well, here’s one game that most players do not expect anything from. Untitled Goose Game is just full of hilarity, and there’s no doubt about it. From the very basic controls of the title to the way your objective is reared into it, you can’t help but pick this one up. There’s even a dedicated button for “honking,” with your sole mission being to ruin everyone’s day. Co-op is extremely fun here; better give it a shot for the best results.

It’s a lovely morning in the village and you are a horrible goose,” reads the game’s official Steam description.

5. South Park: The Stick Of Truth

The South Park franchise is full of laughs, but I believe The Stick of Truth offers a more polished experience than the rest of its counterparts. It’s going to help you have fun in tough times, I’ll tell you that, considering its sheer unpredictability, and fantastic humor that pops up in places you would least expect it. And the overall storyline of the game is something to stick around for as well, and not taken care of as an afterthought with little to no value.

6. Psychonauts

While there’s a sequel that’s out already, I would recommend playing the first Psychonauts to get a hold of this franchise’s origins. It’s got killingly fun jokes, so many weird and different characters that keep the title well-spirited, and great art direction and writing that makes the game so worth playing. Watch out for the “Milkman” conspiracy, which, for me, is one of the highlights of the whole Psychonauts experience.
