Here Are Some Games That Pay Breathtaking Attention To Detail

It's impossible not to appreciate the beauty of this art form sometimes.

Story Highlights

  • Some games in the industry have their eyes set on a different agenda, where gameplay quality is prioritized.
  • Whether a tiny detail that manages to catch your attention or something else, it’s different with these titles.
  • Games like God of War Ragnarok, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Batman: Arkham Knight fit the bill perfectly.

I’m a huge sucker for games that are out there doing something different in just the right way, showcasing how they’re dripping with quality more than others. Over the course of the past decade, I’ve come across some of those titles that fit in perfectly in this regard, and let me tell you this: The experience is never the same once you start getting a bit too comfortable with such games.

That’s why I’ve decided to put together this piece that goes over some of the finest games in terms of sheer quality out there in all their glory, so you can know what your next playthrough is going to be. As we go along the article, I’ll explain what exactly allows these titles to stand out, so make sure to read until the end for the best results.

In case you feel like contributing to the listicle ahead, a comment down below would do splendidly.

1. Batman: Arkham Knight

I’m going to drop one thriller of a superhero game here right off the bat, pretty much because of how iconic it’s been for the franchise as a whole. With the city of Gotham bustling with crime, Rocksteady has worked up a wonder with Arkham Knight, instilling curated attention to detail to the point where you can actually notice Batman’s suit getting roughed up as you progress through the story.

It’s a tiny detail, but gets a lot going for the game’s realism. If you haven’t played it yet, I really recommend you do straight away,

2. God Of War Ragnarok

A personal favorite that’s quite close to my heart, God of War Ragnarok, the latest in the GoW franchise, checks all the boxes when it boils down to delivering on quality. Everything from the haptic feedback of the DualSense all the way to your hits that register on enemy forces, Ragnarok is just pure adrenaline. Additionally, you can get a hint of the sheer amount of passion poured into the game by throwing Kratos’ axe into a far distance and using the “Recall” mechanic.

Observe the attention to detail when the axe flies its way back to you, and how Kratos grabs it upon impact. Other instances such as you performing a light attack on a random wall, and a slash with a line appearing there help the case here significantly as well.

eXputer reviewed God of War Ragnarok, rating it 4.5/5.0, with author Huzaifah Durrani talking about the game with the following words,

God Of War Ragnarok is exceptional in almost every single way, whether it’s the bone-chilling soundtrack, heartfelt yet gut-punching storytelling, or the extremely satisfying combat.”

3. Hitman: World Of Assassination

While technically not a single game, Hitman: World of Assassination is a combination of fantastic titles that feature amazing gameplay, great missing design, and one of the most iconic protagonists of all time. For a franchise that’s centered around the stealth mechanic, the Hitman titles sport great attention to detail with their atmospheric play.

For instance, if you attempt to fire an empty gun, it’s going to make a distinct “click” sound to lure the nearby enemy, while you change your position to get in just the right spot. It’s a small thing, but it does go on to show that IO Interactive means serious business with its Hitman franchise.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

2018’s The Game Awards really needed to have two Game of the Year awards, because of what both Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War brought to the table in terms of pure, unfiltered gameplay quality. I can’t be mad at God of War taking the trophy home, but when it comes to hitting the nail on the head with the atmosphere and world design, there’s quite nothing out there like the Red Dead sequel.

I’ve recommended this game for other reasons as well, writing different pieces at eXputer. Red Dead 2’s got sublime shooting gunplay, so if you’ve grown weary of COD, Fortnite, or the usual bunch, might as well give it an honest shot.

5. Dead Space

EA Motive hasn’t been messing around with the reinvigoration of the first Dead Space, loading it full of tiny details that stand out remarkably well over the course of its campaign. Instances like Isaac’s suit freezing up while outside space, and the ice melting when he’s back indoors, coupled with his elevated heartbeat during disturbing scenes, make for a phenomenal survival horror experience.

eXputer rated Dead Space 4.5/5.0 in its review, with author Huzaifah Durrani pointing out how Motive Studio “transferred everything that people loved about the original Dead Space from 2008, and given [the game] a fresh coat of paint.”
