PS5’s Non-Exclusives That Feature Fantastic Haptic Feedback

The PlayStation 5, to me at least, is a dreamy console, pumped full of magic thanks to its truly next-gen capability, although one that demands more first-party games. The DualSense — the system’s primary controller pad — is another aspect of the platform that has managed to make the PS5 a high-firing console, but have you brought out the best of it?  

You see, games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Returnal are great and all when it comes to making good use of the DualSense, but is that everything that the PS5 has to offer?

Definitely not.

Over the course of the past years or so, a swath of different games have been made haptics-enabled, but many of them have fallen short in terms of actually delivering on the notion. That’s why I decided to put together this write-up that talks about PS5 non-exclusives worth digging into for the DualSense aspect alone. 

A Definitive Experience With These Games Bar None

1. Resident Evil 4 

Capcom has simply outdone itself with the extremely anticipated remake of the classic Resident Evil 4, coming out all the way back in 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube, followed by a PS2 release as well. As of May 2024, the game’s sales have grown beyond the 7 million mark, and rightfully so. Talk about recapturing the essence of the original in such splendor, you go on a trip down memory lane and then some. 

Oh, and let’s not just forget about how Resident Evil 4 deals with DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The difference is easily observed when Leon walks over different surfaces, with each of them giving out a different reaction on the controller. Nothing but sheer thrill, that. 

eXputer author Abdul Haddi rated the game 5/5, calling it true perfection and remarking, 

Resident Evil 4 is a flawless recreation of an already phenomenal game, and I absolutely cannot wait for fans of the original to get blown away by the sheer quality of content on display here.” 

2. Cyberpunk 2077

While there’s no debate that the way Cyberpunk 2077 started out was far from ideal for Polish developer CD Projekt Red, the first-person shooter and action RPG has thoroughly redeemed itself over the years. The devs never gave up on the project and pumped it full of quality as time passed by. In 2024, therefore, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games you can play on your PS5 console.

The charm of the DualSense is best felt when you’re driving a vehicle around Night City, with every gear shift of your car sending electricity down the adaptive triggers in glorious fashion. God, that’s awesome. Cyberpunk’s one and only expansion Phantom Liberty is worth picking up as well, earning 4.5/5.0 in eXputer’s review, with author Usama Mehmood saying,

With the release of Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt Red has finally delivered the grand RPG they promised all those years ago.”

3. Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora 

I feel like Frontiers of Pandora flew under the radar of so many, being one of 2023’s most gorgeously designed games. Outside of its shortcomings, one thing that the game gets right is PS5 optimization. The first-person action-adventure is fantastic when it comes down to how the in-game world reacts to the player. For starters, you can feel a “Zakru” breathing through your DualSense in the game. 

How wicked is that? 

eXputer praised Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s movement system in its review, while highlights its incredible world, breathtaking attention to detail, and amusing gameplay.

4. Sifu

I can’t help but recommend Sifu to all aspiring players out there with a PlayStation 5 who want to feel what the DualSense is capable of. This particular underrated gem by Sloclap — an indie developer — hits the nail on the head with its combat system, offering satisfying yet brutally punishing gameplay, and a learning curve that’s nothing short of a reward to go through down the road.

5. Control 

I love Control, and not without good reason. It’s a game that’s given me the feel of the thrill on multiple levels, starting me out as a relatively mediocre protagonist who grows to power in scale not long after the first few missions “fly” by. And that’s exactly when the DualSense’s real power kicks in, and trust me when I tell you this: Control is going to ruin other games for you. 

Being a solid commercial success, you do not want to skip out on this one.
