Top Titles From PlayStation’s Weekend Offer That You Should Not Ignore

Fresh off the heels of PlayStation’s Summer Sale has arrived yet another tasty promotional push on the official PS Store, discounting dozens of AAA games and add-ons, but only for PlayStation Plus subscribers. In addition to this weekend offer, PlayStation’s primary sale, titled “August Savings,” is also currently active, slated to run until August 28. 

I decided to put together a list of some of the best discounts on the shopfront right now that you can potentially look into for stretching your wallet thin. Do read until the end for the best results.

1. Titanfall 2

If I tell you that Titanfall 2, despite coming out about 8 years ago, still holds its ground as one of the best multiplayer shooters of 2024, would you believe me? Why don’t you spend $5 and find out. Featuring flawless mobility unfound in so many first-person shooters of today, perhaps what puts Titanfall 2 above others isn’t just its fantastic gunplay, but its hybrid campaign mode that tells an amazing story. 

It can also be finished in under 20 hours — nice and clean — so you don’t have to worry about the campaign sticking on for too long. On a side note, it’s been rumored that Respawn is working on a new game in the Titanfall franchise. I genuinely hope this turns out to be true.

2. BioShock: The Collection

I will never not recommend the BioShock series of absolutely thrilling linear shooters for the level of atmospheric gameplay quality they bring to the table. Starting with the first BioShock all the way until Infinite — though the last title has its fair share of qualms — the series boasts a distinct type of melancholic progression, one that keeps you glued to your seats as you uncover the next plot point. 

Although the BioShock games do not fall under the horror category exactly, they’re still going to terrify you more times than you’d like to admit; get the blood rushing. In other news, Cloud Chamber has been appointed in charge for the development of the next BioShock entry, and as per this leaked footage showcasing an in-game screenshot, an official announcement might be lurking around the corner. 

At $9.99, you’ve really got nothing but peanuts to lose here, which too, are going nowhere because BioShock titles are fantastic.

3. Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary Edition

Mass Effect is Western RPG excellence, no questions asked. PS+ members get to purchase the bundle for less than $10 at the time of writing, but be quick because this pricing isn’t going to last long. This is actually one of those too-good-to-be-true deals since the amount of value added to these titles just blows the competition out of the water. 

From displaying impeccable character development to making you actually care about the people in the game, there’s not a player out there doubting the quality of the games at hand. Sure, the ending(s) can be a bit questionable, but for many players out there — myself included — it’s the process that matters. Kudos BioWare for going out there and getting it done.

4. Lords Of The Fallen 

Selling more than 1.2 million copies not long after its release, Lords of the Fallen shakes up the Soulslike formula with its introduction of a unique “realm-switching” mechanic. This kicks in when you die, only to find out that you’re not actually dead, but are instead waking up in another realm called “Umbral,” effectively recognized as the realm of the non-living. 

The title’s certainly not just another Soulslike because there’s a lot in there that will excite you to your core. In addition, Hexworks has improved Lords of the Fallen’s technical situation as compared to how it was on release, fixing the notorious stuttering problem to a great degree. eXputer reviewed it, rating the effort 3.5/5.0 overall, and praising the weapon variety and unique enemy designs as well. 

Lords of the Fallen is one of the better Soulslikes we’ve seen in a long time, but some design choices hold it back from true greatness,” says eXputer author Haris Umer.

5. Dying Light 2 

I’m a huge fan of the Dying Light franchise. The fact that Techland — the developer — has managed to blend parkour with first-person melee gameplay mechanics in such an effective way genuinely takes me aback, and with the sequel, you get an improved, bigger playground to wreak havoc in. Although one can say that some parts of the first Dying Light hold it superior to the sequel, Dying Light 2 is still nothing you should miss out on.
