Story Highlights
- The PlayStation 5 is home to an immense number of games, released over the years.
- Some games, however, offer a different kind of experience, where the main hero is super overpowered.
- Titles like Infamous Second Son, Dynasty Warriors 9, and Doom Eternal offer that incredible feeling of rush.
You don’t come across a specific type of game often, where you’re handling the power authority all on your own as the protagonist. Sure, boss fights can give our heroes the toughest of times despite their dominance, but as far as the regular mobs go, they can’t help but tickle you at best. You could say that these games have overpowered protagonists, but it’s actually the mission design that takes the cake here.
That’s why I’ve decided to put together a list of unique games where you, the player, are capable enough of taking on dozens of different enemies at once without breaking a sweat, overpowering them like there’s no tomorrow. Make sure to sift through each entry diligently for the best results.
Talk About A Real Display Of Power And Authority In These Games
Oh, and just in case if you feel like adding to the list with a suggestion one would appreciate, do take to the comments section below.
1. Infamous Second Son
Starting off the list is a personal favorite and a particular game franchise that’s been long dormant at the hands of developer Sucker Punch Productions, which has since ventured onto new horizons à la Ghost of Tsushima. Delsin Rowe is a super-abled human, otherwise called a Conduit, in the universe of the Infamous series. He’s got an array of powers up his sleeve, including the ability to manipulate various materials and shoot projectiles out of his bare hands.
If you haven’t given this game a shot on your PlayStation console, I suggest you get to it sharpish. Second Son is a successor of the first two Infamous games from the early 2010s, building upon the legacy left behind by Cole MacGrath. The base formula is certainly there, but the improved visuals and smoother gameplay leave do not leave a lot to be desired.
2. Dynasty Warriors 9
Belonging to the “musou” genre of video games, Dynasty Warriors 9 is probably one of the most perfect games that manage to hit the nail on the head as far as overpowering your enemies is concerned. You literally roll over enemies like there’s no tomorrow, and clear out huge battlefields full of foes without breaking a sweat.
Serving as the 9th mainline iteration in the franchise, Dynasty Warriors 9 brings the best of the series up until now in terms of combat, visuals, and story. The title does have its issues, but if the melee is what occupies the most, you can’t go wrong with the sheer entertainment offered by the title at hand.
3. Doom Eternal
Doomslayer, otherwise referred to as just Doomguy, is one of the most iconic video game protagonists in video game history, and not without good reason. The notorious demon-killer has been blessed with superhuman strength and durability for taking down spawns of hell, but that’s only part of what makes him badass.
With an arsenal of menacing weaponry and sheer will that ends up toppling all forms of demons, the Doomslayer has never been caught in action better than in Doom Eternal, the latest iteration in the long-running Doom franchise, and a solid first-person shooter that will offer you the thrill of cutting down enemies seamlessly.
I’m exceptionally eager for what Doom: The Dark Ages has in store, the new Doom game announced by Xbox during the latest Xbox Games Showcase and is set as a prequel title.
4. RoboCop: Rogue City
Teyon’s interpretation of the iconic RoboCop movie franchise has turned out to be remarkably well, primarily because of the focus of the developer on creating a faithful adaptation. Even more so, Peter Weller, the actual actor who played Alex Murphy in the RoboCop movies, has reprised his role for the game in question, and as far as wiping the floor with your enemies is concerned here, RoboCop understands the assignment.
You’re a walking, talking tank in this game with only one objective to follow: Make sure every citizen of Old Detroit is following the law, and then some. eXputer reviewed RoboCop: Rogue City as well, rating it 3.5/5.0, with author Asad Ahmed remarking,
RoboCop: Rogue City successfully captures the essence of the iconic film franchise, offering a faithful and entertaining experience for all.”
5. Control
Remedy Entertainment, the popular maker of the Alan Wake franchise, has cooked up a wonder with Control, featuring Jesse Faden as the female protagonist. The highlight of the action-adventure in question is how Jesse gains psychokinetic powers over the course of the campaign, becoming gradually powerful. This lingers on right to the point where you just squish regular enemies like they’re nothing.
Control has rolled over more than 4 million copies to date, signaling success for developer Remedy. Don’t sleep on this one.
