Apex Legends arrived amidst the far-flung success of Fortnite and Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, and still managed to stir up the competition. This is a freebie that was available on all major platforms except Nintendo Switch, but it seems that the battle royale shooter has received a port for the small screen as well now.
Chad Grenier, Apex Legends’ Game Director says, “We’re very proud of what the team has been able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full-featured Apex Legends experience on the go.”
He continues by affirming, “Apex Legends will launch on Switch with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.”
The Japanese Nintendo store has already listed Apex Legends on the marketplace, but there’s something to pay attention to here. The store has listed that at least 30 GB of storage capacity is required to run the game along with a wireless internet connection.
Since the text is translated, it appears a bit off, but rest assured, the store is trying to tell us that we’ll be needing 30 GB or more of free space. Considering that the base console comes with 32 GB of storage and the usable part of it is even lesser than 30 GB, what’s essential here is a microSD card.
Quite fortunately, those looking for an upgrade with style can opt for Apex Legends’ Champion Edition that ships with a 128 GB or 256 GB microSD card. The retailer here is Amazon Japan and the package costs around 30 USD, so pretty fair deal to be honest.
