Destiny 2 Salvage Keys: [How To Get & Farm]

With the launch of Season of the Deep, a new activity, Salvage has been added so here is how you can get and farm Destiny 2 Salvage Keys.

Season of the Deep came out with three new activities namely, Salvage, Deep Dive, and Fishing. Salvage is a six-player match-made activity that takes place on the planet Titan. It revolves around completing certain objectives such as killing enemies, protecting cargo, carrying parts to repair equipment, diffusing bombs, and killing a boss. After completing the Salvage activity you can open reward chests using Salvage Keys to earn loot related to the respective activity, so let’s discuss how you can get these keys and farm them.

Important: Unfortunately Titan is not available for free roam despite it being the seasonal destination. However, since the area involved in the Salvage activity is pretty big you can roam around as you like.

Salvage Keys are the main currency you require to unlock the reward chests at the end of the Salvage activity. Once acquired you can head straight into the Salvage activity playlist, and upon completion, they will be redeemed automatically.

Important: There has been some evidence from the players in the community that endgame activities and higher power level activities may have a higher probability of dropping Salvage Keys.

You can acquire Salvage Keys from the following activities:

  1. Crucible Playlist
  2. Vanguard Strikes
  3. Gambit Matches
  4. Ranking up Seasonal Pass and Claiming Rewards
  5. Ranking up Seasonal Vendor
  6. Raids
  7. Nightfalls
  8. Dungeons

Salvage Keys Farming Method

Ideally, the easiest way to farm Salvage Keys is to keep repeating the Vanguard playlist. This method can be done when you are alone and don’t have a fixed fireteam. Before you head into the Vanguard playlist you should grab as many Vanguard, Gunsmith, and bounties from other destination vendors. This will ensure that while you do strikes, you are also completing bounties. You can then redeem these bounties for XP to level up your season pass.

The efficient way to farm Salvage Keys is to complete Master or Grandmaster nightfalls with a static fireteam. This method is difficult and time-consuming but is more rewarding than other methods.

Salvage is the new six-player seasonal activity in Season of the Deep. To earn powerful rewards, gear, and weapons from this playlist you need keys. These keys are called Salvage Keys which unlock the loot chest at the end of the activity.

Salvage Keys can be acquired from almost any activity in the game such as Crucible, Gambit, and Strikes. If they are not dropping you should try endgame activities like Raids and Dungeons. These higher-tier activities may have a higher chance to drop Salvage Keys. If you want to find a fireteam for these endgame activities head over to the LFG section at Bungie.net to find more players to play with.
