Midra is not only a hard boss to defeat in Shadow of the Erdtree, but finding his location can also get really confusing in Elden Ring. He resides in a region that connects to an already huge legacy dungeon through a path that most players will easily end up missing. Fighting the boss can also get irritating because some of his attacks can instantly inflict Madness.
- Midra is located in the Abyssal Woods region inside his Manor in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
- Abyssal Woods is accessed through Darklight Catacombs, which can be reached through Shadow Keep.
- Torrent cannot be used to traverse the Abyssal Woods, and it must be explored on foot.
- Midra is a two-phase boss with his first phase being nothing more than a gimmick.
Midra’s Location In Shadow Of The Erdtree
Midra is located inside Midra’s Manor, which can be found in the Abyssal Woods region in Shadow of the Erdtree.
- Traversing Abyssal Woods: Finding your way in this region can get really tough but once you’ve obtained the map, follow the trail that I’ve marked in the image above and you’ll easily reach Midra’s Manse.
- Stealth Sections: Abyssal Woods is filled with enemies that you cannot kill, and they will one-shot you with Madness if they spot you, so make sure to crouch your way through these sections.
- Exploring The Manor: Midra’s Manor is filled with hidden walls, so make sure to roll into the paintings whenever you spot one.
- First Site of Grace: The first hidden wall can be found on the left of the first site of grace in the manor and you’ll need to unlock it to reach the next grace checkpoint.
- Second Site of Grace: Jump down from the second site of grace and head in the opposite direction to find another painting that conceals another hidden path that leads to the final grace checkpoint.
- Third Site of Grace: This acts as the checkpoint for the boss battle and is located right outside the boss room.

How To Enter Abyssal Woods
Entering Abyssal Woods is equally as hard as finding Midra’s Manor. Depending on how much you’ve explored the Shadow Keep legacy dungeon, there are two ways to reach the Abyssal Woods.
- From Main Gate Plaza Grace: If you’ve unlocked the shortcut near this grace, then take a left, head up the stairs, and then finally take a right to reveal the ladder that leads to Abyssal Woods.
- From Specimen Storehouse First Floor: If you haven’t unlocked the shortcuts and are on the first floor of the Storehouse, simply go back and take the lift down, then go down the stairs and head left to reveal the ladder.
From the ladder, you’ll enter a room with a dead end, but there is a hidden path on the right side of the room, which you can roll into to unlock. Then, keep following the path ahead, and you should reach the Darklight Catacombs. After clearing this mini-dungeon, you’ll enter the Abyssal Woods region in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Defeating Midra In Shadow Of The Erdtree
Midra is weak to both frost and bleed status effects, so I recommend using a weapon that inflicts both or powerstance. Two weapons, one with bleed infusion and the other with frost, are needed. Personally, I was using a Great Katana with a frost infusion, and it was inflicting both bleed and frostbite. Additionally, make sure to use a fast weapon because Midra doesn’t give long openings for punishes.
As for your defense, I’d recommend talismans like the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman and spells like Blackflame Protection, which increase your damage negation. Opaline Hardtear in Wondrous Physick is a savior in this fight as it reduces the Madness buildup from Midra’s attacks.
- First Phase: It is pretty easy since Midra does almost nothing, and his attacks are easy to dodge. Plus, this phase also allows you to buff up easily.
- Second Phase: Midra’s attacks are not that hard to dodge, but his openings are pretty small, so don’t get greedy with your punishes, and keep Clarifying Boluses to cure the Madness build-up if it gets too high.
- Rewards: Midra’s Remembrance can be used to obtain either the Greatsword of Damnation or Midra’s Flame of Frenzy Incantation.
This concludes my guide on the location of Midra in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. I have not only entailed the entire path to his dungeon but have also mentioned the methods to easily beat him. The rewards that you get by beating Midra have also been explained. Let me know if you’re enjoying Shadow of the Erdtree so far in the comments below!
