Elden Ring Best Strength Build: Armor, Weapons & More

Our Elden Ring Strength Build guide allows you to make the best strength build in the game and equip the heaviest armor and weapons.

Elden Ring is filled with countless adventurers awaiting players to experience. Players can kick start their journey by picking starting class, molding the playstyle around it, and trying their best to conquer challenging bosses.

Key Takeaways
  • The Best Strength Build in Elden Ring can help players tank incoming hits easily and deal enormous amounts of damage to enemies and bosses.
  • Players should re-spec their character stats to the ones we have listed or something close in order to take full advantage of the build.
  • A couple of the Best Weapons to use with Strength build include powerful armaments such as the Starscourge Greatsword as well as the Grafted Blade Greatsword.
  • The best Armor Sets to compliment the Strength build include Blaidd’s armor set and the Banished Knight set, but you can also use Radahn’s armor set for high damage negation.
  • Shields such as the Jellyfish Shield will provide you with a buff to boost your damage, but the Erdtree great shield can also work splendidly to provide extra protection.
  • Lastly, players should ideally use talismans such as Radagon’s Soreseal, Arsenal Charm, and the Starscourge Heirloom for the Optimum min-maxing for Strength build.

One of the main aspects of making the best builds in Elden Ring is investing appropriately in character attributes such as Strength, Endurance, Vigor, Mind, and more. Character Attributes

Elden Ring Strength Build Character Attributes
Character Attributes

We have listed here the character attributes for a strength build in the game at SL130. You can clearly see which attributes should you put your most runes and level up and which ones to ignore for the perfect strength build. While leveling up, you’d need thousands of runes to reach SL100 or above, so read our Elden Ring rune farming guide and get ahead of curve very early in the game.

Attributes are instant investments that adventurers need to make if they want to get the most out of their builds. The three main critical attributes for this build will be Strength, Vigor, and Endurance, and all of them will be the primary ingredients to take down enemies.

Strength

Kicking things off instantly with the Strength attribute is the primary attribute that adventurers will need to look into if their main aim is to come victorious every time they go into battle. With the help of Strength by your side, you can take down the deadliest of foes in no time. Having high strength and above-average dexterity will also allow you to deal damage with some of the best katanas. However, doing so will shift the focus from the ultimate strength build to STR/DEX hybrid build.

In essence, Strength controls how easily a player can wield heavy weaponry and how effective its overall damage output will be. Some of the best strength weapons that tend to scale off of Strength, mostly greatswords or any other swords, will be significantly enhanced, and players will experience an instant attack boost needed to obliterate foes.

The more players invest points into Strength, the deadlier their builds will become, and the easier it will be to kill opponents. Another thing is that if players end up investing in Strength, their physical defense is also significantly increased, allowing them to tank hits that enemies launch. Therefore players should look into upgrading their strength points.

Endurance

The second primary attribute for the Strength Build is Endurance, which players will need when they are also in the heat of a battle with formidable enemies. During the middle of the fight, players consistently run and sprint while consecutively launching attacks at their opponents.

This is where endurance comes into play, as endurance controls the player’s stamina and how they can handle the amount of energy in their bar. Another thing that endurance directly affects is the adventurer’s Equip Load Limit. Equip Load is the limit after which players cannot wear heavy armor, equip talismans, etc.

Since this build is so focused on heavy armor and heavy weaponry, players are highly advised to invest in Endurance Points to boost their stamina and Equip Load, so they can tank hits and obliterate enemies.

Vigor

Lastly, Vigor is another critical attribute that players cannot let go of and not level up. Since Vigor is highly concerned with the Health Points of a player and how players can take care of their HP in the middle of combat against enemies, it is crucial to ensure that your HP does not deplete. Therefore, investment can positively affect the players and greatly aid them in their battles.

Weapons

Following through with the strength Build, we can recommend a few weapons if you want to take full advantage of this broken build and kill enemies the moment you spot them. While we are checking out Greatswords, here is an excellent Elden Ring Greatsword build that you can experiment with.

Starscourge Greatsword

Elden Ring Strength Build Starscourge Greatsword
Starscourge Greatsword

The first weapon that we will highly recommend that players look into is the Starscourge Greatsword, which is the perfect heavy weaponry that the strength build requires. Its main aim is to aid players when facing more formidable enemies or lighter enemies; it is an excellent weapon to deal massive amounts of damage.

With the physical attack being 129, it is the optimal weapon for adventurers who want to come face-to-face with opponents and kill them instantly. The weapon itself scales off of Intelligence, Dexterity, and Strength, all of which combine to produce potent damage outputs. The elemental damage output is also pretty decent.

With the skill, “Starcaller sky,” upon casting the talent, it immediately causes an enhanced gravitational pull that will instantly lure enemies in and allow players to follow up with consecutive attacks. With the weapon scaling off of Intelligence E, Dexterity D, and Strength D, players should use it.

Grafted Blade Greatsword

Elden Ring Strength Build Grafted Blade Greatsword
Grafted Blade Greatsword

Next up on the list is the Grafted Blade Greatsword, which is mainly focused on boosting players’ confidence when attempting to obliterate any type of enemy. The main aim of the greatsword itself is to allow adventurers to go close to their enemies and hit them with extremely heavy normal and charged attacks and rendering them useless.

The weapon itself scales off Dexterity and strength and is the perfect combination of brutal yet elegant. With the physical attack being 157, it is an excellent weapon for players to have in their arsenal if they want to consistently squeeze out more significant physical damage and kill opponents.

With the weapon skill, “Oath of Vengeance,” when it is cast, players can experience their attributes being enhanced for the time being that the skill is active. The scaling is Dexterity E and Strength C, which allows for brutal and deadly hits launched at all types of beasts and bosses in Elden Ring.

Ordovis’ Greatsword

Ordovis’ Greatsword

Moving right along with the Strength Build, the Ordovis’ Greatsword is another excellent weapon that players can use and smash when in close combat with enemies. Its significant physical damage can take out the strongest of bosses without letting the player take any harm themselves. While we’re at it, you should read our Elden Ring Bosses Tier List and learn about the challenging and the easiest boss in the game.

With the weapon in the player’s arsenal, they can move swiftly along the battlefield and launch normal and charged attacks that might be slow, but they are always deadly when landing on any enemy. The weapon scales off of Faith, Strength, and Dexterity.

With the weapon skill, “Ordovis’ Vortex,” players can easily cause their blade to spin while being launched into the air and then slam down with a plunging attack that will obliterate foes. The weapon scaling off of Faith D, Dexterity E, and Strength C requires players to invest 15 Faith Points, 13 Dexterity Points, and 25 Strength Points to wield the weapon.

Axe of Godrick

Lastly, the Axe of Godrick is yet another excellent heavy weapon that players can wield if they want to get the most out of the Strength Build. Considering it is a greataxe, it scales off of Dexterity and Strength, and it aims to support the player by allowing them to consecutively launch attacks that can kill off enemies but are on the lower end.

With the tremendous physical damage, players can come out victorious every time they come face to face with bosses. With the weapon skill, “I Command Thee, Kneel!” players can smack the greataxe into the ground, which will instantly cause two significant earthquakes to occur. Players need to invest 22 Dexterity Points and 34 Strength Points to wield the weapon. This can also be used as an STR/DEX hybrid build weapon. You can check our Elden Ring Dex build and see which weapons can be used in the STR build as well.

Armor Sets

To defeat every type of enemy in Elden Ring, players need to be able to take increased damage by depleting their HP, and for that, we have gathered a few strong armor sets that can fully protect you when you are fighting opponents.

Blaidd Armor Set

Start things off with the Blaidd Armor, this looks incredibly cool, but it is hands-down one of the best armor sets that players can take advantage of to enhance their Strength Build. It is comprised of Helms, Gauntlets, Greaves, and Chest Armor.

Black Wolf Mask
Elden Ring Strength Build Black Wolf Mask
Black Wolf Mask

First off, the Black Wolf Mask is an excellent piece to the armor set that players should have in their arsenal if their main aim is to go straight over to the enemy, look it in its face and kill it. The mask itself is adorned on the adventurer’s head, and it can allow for consistent damage tanking from all sorts of headshots.

The wolf mask can provide consistent physical damage negation and elemental protection. However, the main focus here is Robustness and Immunity Resistance, which can significantly aid players when they are in combat. You can see below the negation and resistance stats.

Moving onto the chest piece, we have Blaidd’s Chest Armor in our arsenal, which is perfect for adventurers who are more on the experienced side and are used to fighting the most challenging bosses and opponents. With this chest piece adorned on your torso, you will be able to tank any type of attack launched at the stomach.

With a consistent amount of Physical, Strike, Slash, and Pierce damage negation and a proper amount of robustness and Immunity Resistance, it is a must-have for players who want to get rid of enemies faster without depleting their HP. Look below for stats and numbers.

We have the Blaidd’s Gauntlets, which are worn around the player’s hands and arms and can easily allow players to be confident, go into the arena, and obliterate enemies while coming out without a scratch on their bodies. The gauntlets are more on the heavier side and might contribute a bit to the Equip Load limit.

The main aim of the gauntlets themselves is to focus on Strike and Physical damage negation, but elemental negation is not ignored. While robustness resistance is also the main aim, others are still taken care of. The weight is around 4.6, and the stats and numbers are listed below.

Banished Knight Set

The upcoming set in the Strength Build contains the Banished Knight Set, which is considered a heavy-weight armor set comprising Chest Armor, gauntlets, greaves, and Helmet. It is mainly aimed at players who want to obliterate any opponents that dare venture close to the player.

Banished Knight Helm
Elden Banished Knight Helm
Banished Knight Helm

Starting the set off with the Banished Knight Helm is an excellent piece of equipment that can protect the players from any major headshots launched in their direction and make players survive all types of physical and elemental damage. While being worn on the head, players can ultimately feel safe.

The helmet itself will focus on enhancing the player’s physical, pierce, slash, and strike damage negation while never ignoring elemental negation. Robustness and immunity Resistance is also the main aim, and the helmet can slightly add to the player’s Equip Load Limit due to the 7.5 weight.

The chest armor itself is pretty on the heavier side, but it means that adventurers will be able to tank heavier and lighter hits without taking any damage. A considerable amount of damage negation is expected from the Banished Knight Armor, and focus and vitality resistance is focused on. See below for stats and numbers.

During any sort of elemental damage taken by the player, it is immediately negated due to the stats of the Banished Knights Gauntlets, and players will experience increased Robustness, Immunity, and Vitality Resistance. You can check out the damage negation and resistance stats down below.

General Radahn Set

Taking a look at the last armor set for the Strength Build, the General Radahn Set proves to be an excellent candidate. With the way it aims to protect the players from all sources of damage intake, it can be a pretty viable option. You’ll be able to purchase this armor set from Enia after beating the boss, and if you’re having a hard time then read our Elden Ring Radahn Cheese method guide.

Radahn’s Helm
Elden General Radahn's Helm
General Radahn’s Helm

Firstly, we have the Radahn’s Helm with us, considered a heavy-weight helmet. The helmet itself is ferocious looking. It also does its primary job splendidly, letting players feel free of taking any sort of damage and instead focus on obliterating enemies that come near the player.

The helmet itself is pretty bulky. The slight addition to the Equip Load Limit doesn’t limit the player’s movement. It instantly allows for a consistent source of mobility and protection from all physical and elemental damage sources. Let’s take a look at the numbers.

Keeping things going with the Radahn’s Lion Armor, the primary purpose of the chest armor is to be worn around the stomach and to purely protect from damage done to the stomach from all directions, whether they are lighter or heavier attacks. Players will experience increased personal protection while under the guard of the chest armor.

The highest damage negation is focussed on Physical, Strike, Slash, and Pierce, while Robustness and immunity are prioritized as usual. The chest armor is quite bulky and can allow adventurers to consistently tank damage without depleting any HP. Here are the stated damage negation stats.

Shields

Progressing through the Elden Ring Strength Build, we have some excellent options for shields that adventurers can look out for that will protect you and allow you to tank more great hits and fight back with vigor.

Visage Shield

Kicking things off with the Visage Shield, the shield looks rather ominous. Do not be scared by the outlook of the shield, as it provides one of the best guards in Elden Ring. With its higher physical guard and consecutive element guard, while being a great shield and in the player’s arsenal, players can comfortably march onto the battlefield and kill enemies with stride.

The visage shield itself scales off of Strength D, and players will need to invest 44 Strength Points to wield it. The shield is quite heavy, but that is expected with strength-based builds. With the skill “Tongues of Fire,” the shield can blast off sprays of fire that will consistently shred the opponent’s HP.

Jellyfish Shield

The Jellyfish shield is another impeccable alternative to the visage shield. Being a great shield aids the player when they are in the middle of a tough battle by providing consistent protection. While it can slightly reduce the adventurer’s mobility, it can still be an excellent shield.

The shield skill, “Contagious Fury,” upon casting, will buff the player’s damage by a total of 20%, allowing the players to charge out consecutive regular and heavy attacks while being protected. The duration of the skill is around 30 seconds. The shield scales off strength D and Dexterity, and players need 14 Dexterity and 20 Strength Points to wield the shield.

Erdtree Greatshield

The last shield that we will look into is the Erdtree Greatshield, which can instantly boost the overall protection of adventurers by letting players tank hits and strike back with elegant yet powerful blows. The shield itself scales off Faith D and Strength C, and players need to have 12 Faith Points and 30 Strength Points in their arsenal to use the shield.

While under the effect of the shield’s skill, “Golden Retaliation,” players can repel any incantations that are launched towards them and instead direct them back to the source of the magic. Also, read our incantation versus sorcery guide and learn which ones to equip in PvP and PvE.

Talismans

Talismans are crucial when focussing on Strength Builds, as they offer countless offensive and defensive benefits and can be great while in combat with enemies. You can check out some impeccable Elden Ring Talismans that might help you out.

Radagon’s Soreseal

Elden Radagon's Soreseal
Radagon’s Soreseal Talisman

Kicking things off with the Radagon’s Soreseal, the main aim of this talisman is to be equipped by a player and enhance the overall effects of attributes that players have invested in, focussing specifically on Dexterity, Endurance, Vigor, and Strength. This can allow players to make more muscular builds and dominate the battlefield.

A small side effect is that it will increase incoming damage by opponents; therefore, use caution.

Arsenal Charm

Elden Arsenal Charm
Arsenal Charm Talisman

The next talisman, Arsenal Charm, is a favorite among players who focus on Strength builds, as it enhances the overall Equip Load Limit of players, which can highly benefit players who are using this build as it allows them to equip heavier greatswords and pack on heavy armor to protect themselves without needing to worry about the limit.

Starscourge Heirloom

Elden Starscourge Heirloom
Starscourge Heirloom Talisman

Another viable talisman for experienced Elden Ring players is the Starcourge Heirloom, which aims to buff the Strength attribute and make it +5, making this build even more potent. It can significantly help when players want to wield melee weapons and obliterate enemies.

Axe Talisman

Elden Axe Talisman
Axe Talisman

Another impeccable talisman that adventurers should look into equipping is the Axe Talisman, which can significantly buff adventurers who want to head onto the arena and deal some heavy-charged attacks to enemies. It can allow players to come out victorious without putting in much effort.

Green Turtle Talisman

Elden Green Turtle's Talisman
Green Turtle’s Talisman

The Green Turtle Talisman is almost always a viable option to equip, as, during the heat of the battle, players will consistently make their way from one end to the other in the arena, and stamina depletes fast. With the green turtle, stamina recovery is significantly increased, and it will directly impact the player’s performance in combat.

Ashes of War

Ashes of war are a must-have for players while focusing on Strength Build, as it offers a plethora of buffs. Here are some excellent Elden Ring Ashes of War that are highly overpowered.

War Cry

The first ash of war, War Cry, offers players enhancement on their affinity while also providing the ash of war skill. While the craft has been cast, it will significantly enhance and buff the adventurer’s overall attack power, allowing players to run and thrash on the opponents, rendering them useless. The war cry ash itself lasts for 20 seconds.

Troll’s Roar

This ash of war is most useful when wielding heavier weapons, as it offers the skill, “Troll’s Roar,” which gives players the ability to scream out a roar that is so loud that it unleashes a shockwave that will cause the opponents around the player to stagger and fall off their footing, allowing players to charge in with regular and heavy attacks, killing them off.

Cragblade

Yet another excellent ash of war offers players consistent aid in combat and heavy battles. All heavy weapons wielded by the player will be equipped with the Cragblade skill, which will cause the weapon to be made stronger with gravity pulls. Overall attack power and damage output significantly increase while the ash of war is active, giving a 30% strength buff.

Endure

Lastly, Endure is another excellent ash of war, which gives players the ability to make their footing strong while in battle and become more prepared for attacks launched by enemies. When the skill itself is active, it will slightly boost personal resistance and defense.

Flask of Wondrous Physick Crystal Tears Mix

For the Flask of Wondrous Physick mix, we recommend using Strength-Knot Crystal Tear and Stonebarb Cracked Tear because the former increases the strength by +10 and the latter significantly improves the chances of attacks breaking enemy posture.

Strength Build Playstyle

The Elden Ring Strength Build is purely based on heavy weaponry, combining regular and charged attacks at a slower but more deadly pace; the build-in itself is potent. Take the help of the Starscourge Greatsword to set forth and slam the enemies while on the battlefield.

With enough investments into Strength, endurance, and vigor, players will never have to worry about their stamina or HP. Pair that with the Visage Shield, which can protect the players from incoming attacks and launch out jets of fire, or the Erdtree Greatshield, which can further protect and allow players to consistently repel any incoming spells. On the subject of spells, read our Elden Ring best spells guide and equip yourself with these if you’re running a sorcery or magic class in the game.

Pair your weapons with the Radagon’s Soreseal to see a sudden boost in your Strength Attributes, or Arsenal Charm, which can buff the overall Equip Load Limit, allowing players to pack on heavier armor and weapons, which is the pure basis of the Strength Builds. The Starscourge Heirloom is an impeccable choice as it buffs Strength attributes.

With the Ash of War, War Cry in players’ arsenal, they can easily dominate the battlefield when their attack power is boosted. Pair-in Endure can strengthen the overall footing, allowing bracing for more potent attacks.

Stay guarded and protected with the Blaidd Armor set and launch out consistent normal and charged attacks, and come out victorious every single time.

This all beautifully wraps up the Elden Ring Strength Build; you might want to take advantage of this build! With that, let us know what you think, and happy gaming!
