1. Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman
- Why I chose this: provides a high equip load boost, valuable for any build.
The Great-Jar’s Arsenal is an excellent talisman that offers a massive increase to your maximum equip load. The best part about this talisman is that you can acquire it during the early-to-mid game, and can continue using it till the end of the game; it is that good.

If you don’t have access to the Great-Jar’s Arsenal, you can use the Arsenal Charm instead. It has slightly lower buff value (17%), but can do the trick.
2. Carian Filigreed Crest
- Why I chose this: better FP management in non-magic builds with less Mind investment.
The game has many main, field, and optional bosses that are weak against magic damage. However, since the release of Elden Ring, I believe the FP cost of casting weapon skills has been somewhat high than it should have been. But worry not, for I have a solution for you. Go and get the Carian Filigreed Crest talisman, as it significantly reduces the overall FP cost when you use skills in Elden Ring.

- Why I chose this: a strong addition in any incantation build, unconditional damage bonus to spells.
If you’re a player relying heavily on ranged, AoE or direct damage-dealing offensive incantations, Flock’s Canvas Talisman is perfect for you to boost your damage. I respec-ed my mage build into Faith Build and have relied on this talisman for a good amount of time during my first playthrough in Elden Ring. However, do note that it’ll only work on damaging spells, not support types.

If you’re running spells or incantations that have an alternate charged version that deals massive damage compared to the regular or quick-fire version, then I recommend not sleeping on the Godfrey Icon talisman. It is because this talisman increases the overall damage capacity of spells and incantations that are charged and released or fired on enemies or bosses.

When it comes to picking a talisman under the defense category, the Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman comes first to my mind. As per my calculations, this is by far the most top-tier talisman to reduces the overall damage you take from an incoming physical attack, be it a slash, strike, or a charged one.

If you’re yet to obtain the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, I suggest using the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, though it has a lower buff value (17% for +2 variant).
6. Shard of Alexander
- Why I chose this: a must-have for any build using ashes of war as damage source.
If you are looking for a talisman that greatly boosts the attack power of your melee and ranged weapon skills, then the Shard of Alexander is a must have for you. Equipping this item gives you a massive boost when you press L2/LT while equipping a weapon. The usage of Shard of Alexander varies from weapon to weapon, and not all skills get buffed by this talisman; at least, this is what I observed while using the roar skill of hammers.

7. Claw Talisman
- Why I chose this: increases the jump attack damage, and jump attacks are pretty effective for staggering enemies.
If you like to use fancy colossal swords, great hammers, and other very heavy weapons, I’d recommend you look for the Claw Talisman, as this is by far the best talisman in Elden Ring for melee builds. While using heavy weapons, I did not rely on dealing damage via slow yet heavy swings, and used jump attacks instead for their damage and stagger potential. And the Claw Talisman can do wonders for jump attack damage.

In case you don’t have the Claw Talisman, you can use the Raptor’s Black Feathers Chest Armor to get jump attack damage boost (10%).

- Why I chose this: optimizes health management against hordes of enemies.

The Godskin Swaddling Cloth is another excellent talisman that offers HP regeneration on successive attacks instead of killing enemies as Taker’s Cameo worked. If you were to look for another great talisman under the HP regeneration category, I think Godskin Swaddling Cloth is the answer. Besides, you can use this talisman along with Taker’s Cameo for maximum HP regeneration in Elden Ring.

I’ve already mentioned Erdtree’s Favor (standard version) below as one of the best early-game talismans.
Since this talisman is one of the best talismans in Elden Ring that boosts HP, Stamina, and Equip load, I think you should have Erdtree’s Favor +2 talisman once you reach the end-game content.

Crimson Amber Medallion is one of the best Talismans in the game as it can increase your maximum hp significantly. This Medallion can give a significant boost to your hp stat. Crimson Amber Medallion will allow your character to survive a lot of falls, which, I believe, can be a lifesaver.

Viridian Amber Medallion is a useful Talisman that can increase your maximum stamina. Since rolling is integral to surviving, I believe boosting your stamina can be helpful for you, especially during boss battles.

If you are using a class that uses more magical attacks, then I suggest you use the Cerulean Amber Medallion. It will prevent you from running out of FP sooner against bosses and difficult enemies. It’s one of the best Talismans in the Elden ring, especially if you use a magical class.

Equipping the roar medallion would greatly increase the damage of your breath attacks, allowing you to take down many bosses easily.

The Assassin’s Crimson Dagger can restore your hp significantly with every critical hit. I consider this to be one of the best Elden Ring Talismans due to its healing potential. Assasin’s Crimson Dagger will work wonders in boss fights if you get many critical hits.

As I mentioned before, the increased stamina would be helpful for you if you tend to roll during combat. The high hp will make you formidable and keep you alive for longer in many boss battles. So, I think Erdtree’s Talisman is a must-have early-game, and is also among the best Elden Ring Talismans

I’ve sniped a lot of enemies from a safe distance using it. So, Arrow’s Reach Talisman will allow you to take down many enemies in the open world easily while making exploration easier for you. Arrow’s Reach Talisman is one of the best Elden Ring Talismans if you use a bow as your main weapon.

A guard counter is a unique way of attacking the enemies after shielding their attacks; your character can deal great damage. Moreover, you can also break an opponent’s stance with a Guard counter. Curved Sword Talisman is a great Talisman because it can increase the potential of Guard counters much more.

Alternative Talismans
There are some other Talismans that players can also use but I did not include them in the list due to slight issues:
- Flamedrake Talisman: Useful against enemies who use flame attacks, otherwise it is useless.
- Arrow’s Sting Talisman: Good talisman for long-ranged builds as it increases the attack power of bolts and arrows. It is not useful for other builds.
- Primal Glintstone Blade: It is good for spell casting as it reduces FP cost but it reduces HP which makes it easier to get one shot.
- Prince of Death’s Pustule: It increases vitality which is good in the early game but becomes useless later on.
My Take On The Ideal Talismans
After experiencing Elden Ring for weeks and trying hundreds of talisman combinations, I’ve noticed that the ideal talismans are the all-around ones that favor almost any in-game build or playstyle. This includes talismans like the Green Turtle Talisman, Marika’s Scarseal, and the Blessed Dew Talisman.
After my first playthrough, the talismans I recommend and stick with are Erdtree’s Favor +2, Radagon’s Soreseal, Shard of Alexander, and the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. If you primarily use FP in your build, I’d suggest ditching the Insignia for the Ancestral’s Spirit Horn.
