1. Great-Jar’s Arsenal Talisman

The Highest Equip Load Boost In Elden Ring.

best talismans elden ring
Great-Jar’s Arsenal In The Game (Image Captured by Us)
  • Why I chose this: provides a high equip load boost, valuable for any build.

The Great-Jar’s Arsenal is an excellent talisman that offers a massive increase to your maximum equip load. The best part about this talisman is that you can acquire it during the early-to-mid game, and can continue using it till the end of the game; it is that good.

Description A charm that resembles great jar overflowing with weapons, contains boosts maximum equipment load
Location Rewarded by Great Jar, after defeating 3 Great Jar’s Warriors in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow.
Weight 1.5
Sell Price 1000
Effects Raises maximum equipment load by 19%

If you don’t have access to the Great-Jar’s Arsenal, you can use the Arsenal Charm instead. It has slightly lower buff value (17%), but can do the trick.

  • Allows usage of better armor without sacrificing mobility.
  • It is a great addition to Colossal Weapon builds.

  • Dragonbarrow can be a high-difficulty area for some players.
  • Less valuable for builds with high Endurance investment.

2. Carian Filigreed Crest

The Best Talisman For FP Management.

elden ring best talismans
Carian Filgreed Crest In The Game (Image Captured by eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: better FP management in non-magic builds with less Mind investment.

The game has many main, field, and optional bosses that are weak against magic damage. However, since the release of Elden Ring, I believe the FP cost of casting weapon skills has been somewhat high than it should have been. But worry not, for I have a solution for you. Go and get the Carian Filigreed Crest talisman, as it significantly reduces the overall FP cost when you use skills in Elden Ring.

Description A talisman adorned with a Royal crest
Location Obtain from Iji the Smith for 5000 Runes when browsing his wares
Weight 0.8
Sell Price 1000
Effects Reduce 25% of FP consumed by skills

In addition to the Carian Filigreed Crest, The Ash-of-War Scarab headpiece armor can provide the same effect, albeit with a lower value (~15%).

  • Can stack multiplicatively with the Ash-of-War Scarab.
  • Allows investment into damage stats rather than Mind in non-mage builds.

  • Only works for Ashes of War, not spells or incantations.
  • Less valuable for hybrid builds with higher FP.

3. Flock’s Canvas Talisman

The Best Talisman For Incantation Buff.

elden ring best talismans
Flock’s Canvas Talisman In The Game (Image by eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: a strong addition in any incantation build, unconditional damage bonus to spells.

If you’re a player relying heavily on ranged, AoE or direct damage-dealing offensive incantations, Flock’s Canvas Talisman is perfect for you to boost your damage. I respec-ed my mage build into Faith Build and have relied on this talisman for a good amount of time during my first playthrough in Elden Ring. However, do note that it’ll only work on damaging spells, not support types.

Description A Talisman that depicts a mass of masked figure, represents the flock at prayer
Location Obtained from Sage Gowry in Caelid, South of Sellia, Town of Sorcery
Weight 1.0
Sell Price 2000
Effects Raise potency of Incantation

Faithful’s Canvas Talisman can be used in place of this one, but it has a lower buff value than Flock’s Canvas Talisman.

  • Stacks multiplicatively with same type of buffs, like Faithful’s Canvas Talisman.
  • Paired with high spell buff seals, it can create high dps Faith builds.

  • Requires completion of Millicent’s quest, and has comlex acquisition criteria.
  • Only works on damage incantations, not on healing or buffing spells.

4. Godfrey Icon

Service title

best talismans elden ring
Godfrey Icon In The Game (Screenshot Captured by eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: perfect for skills and spells with charged variants, high damage buff.

The Godfrey Icon is another best talisman in Elden Ring for mid-to-late game usage. If you’re running spells or incantations that have an alternate charged version that deals massive damage compared to the regular or quick-fire version, then I recommend not sleeping on the Godfrey Icon talisman. It is because this talisman increases the overall damage capacity of spells and incantations that are charged and released or fired on enemies or bosses.

Description Legendary talisman depicting the Elden Lord Godfrey
Location Obtain from the Golden Limeage Evergaol by defeating Godefroy the Grafted, in Southern Altus Plateau
Weight 0.8

Effects Enhances the damage of charged spells and skills by 15%

  • Unconditional damage buff to any charge-type abilities.
  • Has little alternatives available in game.

  • Only has certain specific abilities that fulfills the criteria
  • Cannot work with bow-based skills.

5. Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman

The Highest Physical Dmg Negation Among Talismans.

elden ring best talismans
Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman In The Game (Image Credit Copyright: eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: one of the best defensive talismans in the game, can work against any physical attack.

When it comes to picking a talisman under the defense category, the Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman comes first to my mind. As per my calculations, this is by far the most top-tier talisman to reduces the overall damage you take from an incoming physical attack, be it a slash, strike, or a charged one.

Description A Legendary wrought iron talisman depicting an ancient dragon that ruled in the prehistoric era before Erdtree to protect their lord
Location Found in a chest on a platform in a large building guarded by multiple Pests in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
Weight 0.8
Sell Price 2000
Effects Provides 20% Physical Damage reduction

If you’re yet to obtain the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, I suggest using the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, though it has a lower buff value (17% for +2 variant).

  • Physical damage is the principal type of damage in the game.
  • It can be quite effective if you have armor with lower defenses.

  • You can only obtain it in essentially the end-game area.
  • Does not work against damage types other than physical.

6. Shard of Alexander

The Greatest Skill Damage Buff.

best talismans elden ring
Shard Of Alexander In The Game (Image credit: eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: a must-have for any build using ashes of war as damage source.

If you are looking for a talisman that greatly boosts the attack power of your melee and ranged weapon skills, then the Shard of Alexander is a must have for you. Equipping this item gives you a massive boost when you press L2/LT while equipping a weapon. The usage of Shard of Alexander varies from weapon to weapon, and not all skills get buffed by this talisman; at least, this is what I observed while using the roar skill of hammers.

Description A shard of the late Alexander, a shattered warrior jar
Location Obtain from Iron Fist Alexander by defeating him in northwest Crumbling Farum Azula.
Weight 0.9
Sell Price 1000
Effects Boosts the attack power of skills by 15%

You can also use the Warrior Jar Shard if you don’t have the Shard of Alexander, but it has a lower buff value (10%).

  • Can greatly boost the farming potential of certain AoE skills.
  • The damage buff is also applicable to bow skills, enabling sniper comps.

  • Requires the completion of Alexander’s quest, which spans the whole game.
  • Not suitable for any sort of magic builds.

7. Claw Talisman

The Best Talisman For Jump Attacks.

elden ring best talismans
Claw Talisman In The Game (Image Captured by Us)
  • Why I chose this: increases the jump attack damage, and jump attacks are pretty effective for staggering enemies.

If you like to use fancy colossal swords, great hammers, and other very heavy weapons, I’d recommend you look for the Claw Talisman, as this is by far the best talisman in Elden Ring for melee builds. While using heavy weapons, I did not rely on dealing damage via slow yet heavy swings, and used jump attacks instead for their damage and stagger potential. And the Claw Talisman can do wonders for jump attack damage.

Description A Talisman depicting a claw and an assassin, while the assassins if Ravenmount are killers by trade
Location Located on a high tower surrounded by eagles, found on a corpse in Stromveil Castle
Weight 0.7
Sell Price 500
Effects Enhance jump attacks

In case you don’t have the Claw Talisman, you can use the Raptor’s Black Feathers Chest Armor to get jump attack damage boost (10%).

  • Jump attacks are pretty potent in Elden Ring, and it can enhance them further.
  • Is available pretty early, and stacks multiplicatively with other jump attack buffs.

  • Does not work for bow jump shots, and spells with jump casting options.
  • Has a niche buff type, only for jump attacks.

8. Taker’s Cameo

The Best Talisman For Vampire Builds.

best talismans elden ring
Taker’s Cameo In The Game (Image Captured by eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: optimizes health management against hordes of enemies.

Taker’s Cameo basically steals enemies’ life force whenever you kill them and, in return, replenishes a certain amount of your health. If you want to have this life-stealing kind of a playstyle, then read our Elden Ring Vampire build guide and become the ultimate life-sucking tarnished in the game.

Description A Talisman carved with the stern of Praetor Rykard, master of Volcano Manor
Location Obtained from Tanith in Volcano Manor in central Mt. Gelmir
Weight 1.0
Sell Price 1000
Effects Restores 3% maximum HP upon defeating different enemies

In place of Taker’s Cameo, you can use the Blasphemous Blade weapon, as it restores greater hp per kill (4%).

  • Helps save Crimson Tears flasks for bosses by providing heals per kill.
  • Can be easily slotted in any build against common enemies.

  • Useless against bosses, and less effective against elite enemies.
  • Blasphemous Blade is a much better alternative for self-healing purposes.

9. Godskin Swaddling Cloth

The Best Talisman For Offensive Healing.

best talismans elden ring
Godskin Swaddling Cloth In The Game (Image by eXputer)
  • Why I chose this: effectively combines offense and defense.

The Godskin Swaddling Cloth is another excellent talisman that offers HP regeneration on successive attacks instead of killing enemies as Taker’s Cameo worked. If you were to look for another great talisman under the HP regeneration category, I think Godskin Swaddling Cloth is the answer. Besides, you can use this talisman along with Taker’s Cameo for maximum HP regeneration in Elden Ring.

Description A sacred cloth of Godskin Apostles, created from supple skin sewn
Location Obtain from the Spiritcaller’s Cave by defeating all of the bosses at the end of the dungeon, in northeastern Mountaintops of the Giants
Weight 0.9
Sell Price 1000
Effects Provides a good amount of 3% healing of Maximum HP every 3 to 7 hits depending on weapon.

  • Can work with a lot of different weapons and attack types.
  • Enables a more offensive playstyle with greater focus on relentless attacks.

  • The health regen value is not significant enough.
  • Against stronger opponents, you still need to retreat to heal, so it’s less useful.

10. Erdtree’s Favor +2

The Best Multifunctional Talisman.

elden ring best talismans
Erdtree’s Favor +2 In The Game (Screenshot Captured by eXputer)

Erdtree’s Favor +2 is a much better version of the early game Erdtree’s Favor talisman, as the late game +2 variant increases the overall HP, stamina, and equip load much higher than the base version. I’ve already mentioned Erdtree’s Favor (standard version) below as one of the best early-game talismans.

Since this talisman is one of the best talismans in Elden Ring that boosts HP, Stamina, and Equip load, I think you should have Erdtree’s Favor +2 talisman once you reach the end-game content.

Description A Talisman depicting blessing of the Erdtree, bestowed upon their recipients by Queen Marika
Location Obtained from a corpse in Leyndell, in Ashen Capital
Weight 1.5
Sell Price 300
Effects Gives greatly raises +4% HP, +9.6% stamina, and +8% equip load

  • Can be used in place of three different talismans.
  • Provides valuable defensive stats for safer runs.

  • The +2 variant cannot be obtained until pretty late in the game.
  • Less valuable at higher character levels with better investment.

11. Blessed Dew Talisman

The Best Talisman For Passive Healing.

Best Talismans Elden ring
The Blessed Dew Talisman

An Interesting Read: Elden Ring Best Keepsakes

  • Why I chose this: passive healing can provide better HP management in battles.

Like its name, Blessed Dew Talisman can prove to be a blessing for you. It can slowly increase your hp throughout the battle. I recommend getting the Blessed Dew Talisman to help you tough out many difficult battles against formidable bosses. It can restore two hp every second, which is a useful passive healing ability.

Description A Talisman depicting a drop of Erdtree’s sap, a blessed boon
Location Obtained in Leyndell, Royal Capital, at the top of the Divine Bridge of Grace
Weight 0.6
Sell Price 1000
Effects Slowly restores 2 HP per second

You can stand formidable against many bosses if you equip Blessed Dew Talisman. The Talisman would allow you to act without worrying about your health.

  • It can be valuable in drawn-out battles to preserve Estus flasks.
  • Stacks with almost all other HP healing buffs.

  • The regenerative value is awfully low.
  • The passive heal is unreliable in pinch situations.

12. Crimson Amber Medallion

The Best Early-Game Talisman For HP Boost.

Crimson Amber Medallon
The Crimson Amber Medallion
  • Why I chose this: sometimes just a little more hp is the difference between killing a boss and death.

Crimson Amber Medallion is one of the best Talismans in the game as it can increase your maximum hp significantly. This Medallion can give a significant boost to your hp stat. Crimson Amber Medallion will allow your character to survive a lot of falls, which, I believe, can be a lifesaver.

Description A medallion talisman with Crimson amber inlaid
Location Found in the Volcano Manor legacy dungeon in Mt. Gelmir
Weight 0.3
Sell Price 100
Effects Raise maximum HP by +6%

Although it has a lower HP boost value, you can use the Erdtree’s Favor Talisman in place of this as it also provides two other stats.

  • HP is highly valuable early game for tanking damage.
  • Allows investments in stats other than Vigor.

  • The HP increase becomes less valuable as you reach higher levels.
  • Erdtree’s Favor is a better alternative because of its multiple stat boosts.

13. Viridian Amber Medallion

The Best Talisman For Stamina Buff.

Best Talismans Elden ring
The Viridian Amber Medallion
  • Why I chose this: stamina is necessary for a majority of actions in Elden Ring.

Viridian Amber Medallion is a useful Talisman that can increase your maximum stamina. Since rolling is integral to surviving, I believe boosting your stamina can be helpful for you, especially during boss battles.

Description A medallion talisman with viridian amber inlaid
Location Obtained by defeating Miranda in the Tombsward Cave, in western Weeping Peninsula, southwestern Limgrave
Weight 0.3
Sell Price 100
Effects Raise Maximum Stamina by +11%

  • Allows you to invest in damage stats rather than Endurance.
  • Improves both offensive and defensive capabilities tied with Stamina usage.

  • It’s better to replace it with more damage-focused options upon reaching high Endurance.
  • Like the prior entry, Erdtree’s Favor can do multiple jobs in a single slot.

14. Cerulean Amber Medallion

The Best FP-Increasing Talisman.

cerulean amber medallion
The Cerulean Amber Medallion
  • Why I chose this: FP is a valuable resource, for mage builds in particular.

Cerulean Amber Medallion can increase your FP, allowing you to do more magical attacks and spirit summons. If you are using a class that uses more magical attacks, then I suggest you use the Cerulean Amber Medallion. It will prevent you from running out of FP sooner against bosses and difficult enemies. It’s one of the best Talismans in the Elden ring, especially if you use a magical class.

Description A medallion talisman with cerulean amber inlaid
Location Obtained in the Lakeside Crystal Cave by defeating the Bloodhound Knight boss, located at the south end of West Liurnia
Weight 0.3
Sell Price 100
Effects Raise Maximum FP by +7%

  • Can be used in any build using FP, be it ashes of war, or spells and incantations.
  • Allows the user to carry more Crimson Tears flasks in place of the Cerulean one.

  • In higher Mind investment builds, the FP boost is less valuable.
  • Buffs like shorten cast time are much more valuable for dedicated mages.

15. Roar Medallion

The Best Talisman For Roar Build.

Best Talismans in Elden ring
The Roar Medallion
  • Why I chose this: high buff value, tailor-made for roar attacks in particular.

The Roar Medallion would significantly raise the damage of your character’s roar and breath attacks. So, if you are going for a roar build, I believe you should equip this medallion for maximum damage potential. Equipping the roar medallion would greatly increase the damage of your breath attacks, allowing you to take down many bosses easily.

Description A bronze medallion talisman depicting a roaring giant
Location Found by defeating the Stone Digger Troll in the Limgrave Troll, central Limgrave
Weight 0.7
Sell Price 500
Effects Increase roars and breath attacks

If you don’t have the Roar medallion yet, I suggest using the Highland Axe, as it can provide the same effect, albeit in a lower potency (10%).

  • Can even increase the damage of attacks done after using a Roar-type buff like War Cry.
  • Stacks multipicatively with Highland Axe, and is perfect for Dragon Communion Incantations.

  • Can only be used in builds utilizing roar or breath skills and spells.
  • Does not affect jump attacks done after applying a roar-based buff.

16. Assassin’s Crimson Dagger

The Best Talisman For Crit Healing.

 Assassin's crimson dagger
The Assassin‘s Crimson Dagger
  • Why I chose this: HP regeneration becomes easy in parry-focused builds.

The Assassin’s Crimson Dagger can restore your hp significantly with every critical hit. I consider this to be one of the best Elden Ring Talismans due to its healing potential. Assasin’s Crimson Dagger will work wonders in boss fights if you get many critical hits.

Description An Assassin’s dagger charm, modelled after the gleaming blades used in the night if Black Knife and stained in crimson
Location Located inside the Deathtouched Catacombs, as a drop by the Black Knife Assassin, northern Limgrave
Weight 0.6
Sell Price 1500
Effects Provides healing to critical hits by 10% of Maximum HP plus 85HP

I recommend equipping Assassin’s Crimson Dagger Talisman, especially if you require a lot of healing during combat. Assassin’s Crimson Dagger can prove helpful for your melee builds.

  • Weapons having double attack animation during criticals can even trigger this effect twice.
  • It can keep the Crimson flask consumption to a minimum if you spam backstabs.

  • It requires playing exclusively as a crit-focused character to trigger its effect.
  • Its effectiveness is halved against enemies who cannot be backstabbed.

17. Erdtree’s Favor Talisman

The Best Early-Game Talisman.

Elden ring best Talsimans
The Erdtree’s Favor Talisman
  • Why I chose this: provides defensive stat boost useful in early-game builds.

Erdtree’s Favor Talisman can give you a lot of stat buffs. It can increase your hp and stamina. As I mentioned before, the increased stamina would be helpful for you if you tend to roll during combat. The high hp will make you formidable and keep you alive for longer in many boss battles. So, I think Erdtree’s Talisman is a must-have early-game, and is also among the best Elden Ring Talismans

Description A Talisman portraying a special blessing of the Erdtree
Location Found in an altar in Fringefolk Hero’s Grave, in western Limgrave
Weight 1.5
Sell Price 500
Effects Slightly increases HP by +3%, Stamina +6.75% and equip lead by +5%

  • It can be obtained early on, where it is the most valuable.
  • Consumes only one slot and provides three different buffs.

  • Like its +2 variant, the buff is less valuable for higher investment characters.
  • The buff value of the base variant is on the lower side.

18. Arrow’s Reach Talisman

The Most Useful Talisman For Archers.

Arrow's reach Talisman Elden ring
The Arrow’s Reach Talisman
  • Why I chose this: Improves the range of bow-based builds, making them more versatile.

If you use a bow as your main weapon, I highly recommend you get the Arrow’s Reach Talisman. This Elden Ring Talisman would increase the range of your bow attacks. I’ve sniped a lot of enemies from a safe distance using it. So, Arrow’s Reach Talisman will allow you to take down many enemies in the open world easily while making exploration easier for you. Arrow’s Reach Talisman is one of the best Elden Ring Talismans if you use a bow as your main weapon.

Description A talisman depicting three arrows which is carried by hunters of beasts
Location Obtained from a chest along the bridge over Stormgate’s entrance in Limgrave
Weight 0.7
Sell Price 500
Effects Enhance bow effective range

  • Can affect almost every bow-type weapon, as well as their Ashes of War.
  • Enables sniping from a safe distance and raises the effectiveness of bow builds.

  • Exclusively for bow-type weapons only.
  • Hitting enemies at a distant is a safe, but a less-damaging strategy.

19. Axe Talisman

The Best Charged-Attack Boosting Talisman.

best talismans in Elden ring
The Axe Talisman
  • Why I chose this: can further buff the already hard-hitting charged attacks for one-shot tactics.

The Axe Talisman can help your character pack a great punch for several enemies. It significantly increases your charge attack damage and could be lethal to bosses and regular enemies alike. If you want a good attack boost, I recommend you look for and equip the Axe Talisman. This Talisman can allow you to inflict great damage with less effort.

Description A Talisman illustrating an axe and a warrior
Location Obtained by a chest in eastern Limgrave, in the cellar of Mistwood Ruins
Weight 0.8
Sell Price 500
Effects Gives 10% damage Increase to charge attacks

  • Can be paired up with the Roar medallion and roar-type buffs for massive damage.
  • Can be used in any melee build, as long as charged attacks are being used.

  • Charged attack strategy can leave you vulnerable for a longer time.
  • The 10% buff value might not be a significant enough buff without any other.

20. Curved Sword Talisman

The Best Talisman For Guard-Counters.

10 best Talismans in Elden ring
The Curved Sword Talisman
  • Why I chose this: enables the unique counterattacking playstyle, significant buff value.

Curved Sword Talisman is the last best Elden Ring Talisman it can enhance your guard counters. A guard counter is a unique way of attacking the enemies after shielding their attacks; your character can deal great damage. Moreover, you can also break an opponent’s stance with a Guard counter. Curved Sword Talisman is a great Talisman because it can increase the potential of Guard counters much more.

Description A Talisman depicting a swordsman and a curved sword
Location Found in a chest in Stormveil Castle, the room where the player gets locked in with the Banished Knight
Weight 0.7
Sell Price 500
Effects Provides 20% damage Increase to Guard Counter attacks

  • Can be obtained pretty early, and is useful throught the game.
  • Guard counters do a lot of stagger damage, and it boosts their health damage too.

  • Guard counters are risky against enemies who do not stagger.
  • You need sufficient stamina to block an attack if you wish to do a guard counter.

Alternative Talismans

There are some other Talismans that players can also use but I did not include them in the list due to slight issues:

  • Flamedrake Talisman: Useful against enemies who use flame attacks, otherwise it is useless.
  • Arrow’s Sting Talisman: Good talisman for long-ranged builds as it increases the attack power of bolts and arrows. It is not useful for other builds.
  • Primal Glintstone Blade: It is good for spell casting as it reduces FP cost but it reduces HP which makes it easier to get one shot.
  • Prince of Death’s Pustule: It increases vitality which is good in the early game but becomes useless later on.

My Take On The Ideal Talismans

hours waterjuice
My Elden Ring hours on Steam

After experiencing Elden Ring for weeks and trying hundreds of talisman combinations, I’ve noticed that the ideal talismans are the all-around ones that favor almost any in-game build or playstyle. This includes talismans like the Green Turtle Talisman, Marika’s Scarseal, and the Blessed Dew Talisman.

elden rinng profiles
WaterJuice Profiles on Steam

After my first playthrough, the talismans I recommend and stick with are Erdtree’s Favor +2, Radagon’s Soreseal, Shard of Alexander, and the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. If you primarily use FP in your build, I’d suggest ditching the Insignia for the Ancestral’s Spirit Horn.

That wraps my extensive guide on the best talismans in Elden Ring. As always, choose your ideal pair according to your build, playstyle, and, most importantly, experience. Alongside talismans, you can check out the best crossbows and best straight swords that you can equip if you’re a melee user.
