Mage Build Stats
If you’re going for the Best Elden Ring Mage build then your starting class should be Astrologer and your stats should look like the ones mentioned in the image above.
Now, the stats you need to focus on are Intelligence and Mind because most of the weapons you will be using will scale with Intelligence and some spells will require a hefty amount of Intelligence. Of course, you will need FP to use those spells, and FP is increased by leveling up Mind.
Just because your main focus is Intelligence and Mind doesn’t mean that you should start ignoring all the other stats. When it comes to leveling up stats, your second priority should be Vigor. There’s no point in only leveling up Mind and Intelligence if you start dying with one hit from late-game bosses.
Aside from Vigor, you also need to occasionally level up Endurance for the extra stamina and equip load. And you will also need to level up Strength and Dexterity strategically.
Another benefit of leveling up intelligence is that you will be able to use the Law of Regression and solve Goldmask’s riddle if you are going for the Perfect Order ending and not waste two Larvae Tears in the process.
|Stats||Level 60||Level 120|
To further enhance your Mage build, you will need to equip the proper talismans which are discussed later in this guide.
Best Mage Armors
Now there are quite a lot of Mage armors, all offering different advantages for your magic-based build, It’s simply not possible to select a single armor as universally the best but we have prepared this list to inform you of all the advantages and disadvantages of armor set so you can select which works best for you. We also have a guide for Best Light Armor Sets in Elden Ring.
SpellBlade set is a battle-oriented set and it also looks great if you’re only wearing armor for fashion. The SpellBlade set boosts the damage of Cold or Magic-based Ashes of War by 2% per piece however, it does not boost any sorcery spells.
Spoiler: This armor set is dropped by Sorcerer Rogier at the Roundtable hold after he dies.
The Battlemage armor set offers a decent amount of resistance for physical, magic, and elemental damage. The helmet of the battlemage set gives 2 extra points for both Strength and Intelligence thus allowing you to invest some of your ruins in other stats.
This armor set is dropped by certain Battlemage enemies located at the west of East Windmill Pasture or the East of West Windmill Pasture.
Carian Knight Set
The Carian Knight set is one of the most fashionable armor sets on this list. It offers a balance good balance between Physical and Magical Defense. Aside from being fashionable, It is also relatively very easy to get and offers a good amount of damage resistance, having more physical damage resistance and similar magical damage resistance compared to the Battlemage set. Overall It offers good protection for relatively low weight.
It is located in the Raya Lucaria Academy in the graveyard section. At the right side of the gate entrance where the rotating lift is, you’ll find a platform where you can drop to.

This staff also boosts the damage of gravity sorceries by 30%. If you acquire Meteorite Staff, then you should not sleep on obtaining Meteoric Ore Blade in Elden Ring.
The Meteorite staff is located at the Street of Sages Ruins in Swamp near Sellen Crystal Tunnel in Caelid.
