Elden Ring: How To Invade & Beat Juno Hoslow

The Worthy Heir of Hoslow is more than just a simple NPC in Elden Ring.

Juno Hoslow is a hostile NPC in Elden Ring you need to invade and beat as part of the Volcano Manor questline. Defeating him will give you his entire arsenal, including the Hoslow armor set and Hoslow’s Petal Whip, a DoT-focused bleed weapon. Furthermore, this invasion is also a key step to fighting one of the main demigods in the game – Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.

Key Takeaways
  • Juno Hoslow’s invasion is a late-game encounter when you’ve reached Volcano Manor and the Mountaintops of the Giants.
  • You can only invade him during Tanith’s questline once you’ve killed the previous 2 NPCs in that questline.
  • He has most of the NPC combat abilities, such as quick movement, dodging, and healing at least once per fight.
  • He’s also susceptible to Status Effects in Elden Ring, so you can beat him with almost any weapon or build.

How To Reach Juno Hoslow

Juno Hoslow is the final NPC you need to beat in Volcano Manor’s main quest line. As such, you’ll first need to kill Old Knight Istvan in Limgrave and the Rileigh the Idle in the Altus Plateau as part of the questline. Once you’ve killed these 2 NPCs, return to the drawing room in Volcano Manor. On the table beside Recusant Bernahl, you can pick the Red Letter regarding Juno Hoslow’s whereabouts and other details.

You can examine this Red Letter by navigating through the Info section in the Inventory. According to the letter, Juno Hoslow can be found in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Specifically, his summon sign is near the Shack of the Lofty on the Mountaintops’ northern side. You can see a red marker with Juno Hoslow’s name appear on the map showing exactly where you can find him.

The quickest way that I suggest to get to this location is from the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace. Once you’re at this site of grace, head down the valley north until you reach the frozen lake. From here, take a right and follow the straight path until you reach the Shack of the Lofty at the intersection of the lake. You can find Hoslow’s red summon sign right outside the entrance of the Shack and invade him.

How To Beat Juno Hoslow

Hoslow will mainly be using his Petal Whip, which is a ranged weapon that stacks bleed at an insane rate. The whip has a large hitbox, quick startup animations, and unpredictable angles to hit the opponent. Coupled with the fact that Juno also has the Bloodhound Step gives him a much higher level of difficulty compared to other NPCs in this questline.

I’ve faced this tough boss multiple times, and here are my expert tips:

The best approach to beat Juno Hoslow in Elden Ring is using weapons with a ranged Ash of War attack to kill him. This includes weapons like the Blasphemous Blade, Moonveil Katana, and other long-ranged Ash of War weapons. Another easy method to beat him is using DoT incantations, spells, and weapons such as Ekzykes’s Decay or Swarm of Flies that cause status buildups like Scarlet Rot and Bleed. Just remember to keep your distance as his whips can kill you in 2 or 3 hits.

Once I killed Juno Hoslow and returned from the invasion, I received the following items in Elden Ring:

  • Hoslow’s Helm
  • Hoslow’s Armor
  • Hoslow’s Gauntlets
  • Hoslow’s Greaves
  • Hoslow’s Oath Gesture
  • Hoslow’s Petal Whip
  • 1 Rune Arc
  • 1 Furlcalling Finger Remedy

Juno Hoslow’s armor set is a middle-weight set that is one of the best fire and lightning-resistant sets in its class. Apart from that, this set is also great against melee weapons as it absorbs most of the enemy’s melee damage including thrust, strike, and slash attacks.

On the other hand, the Petal Whip is a dual whip that causes Bleed buildup. This weapon scales with Dexterity and Strength and can also be infused with an Ash of War to make it more versatile.

Conclusion

That wraps up my complete guide on getting to and killing Juno Hoslow in Elden Ring. It’s important to note Juno’s fight is entirely optional, and it’s not necessary to fight him to reach Rykard since there are two routes to his arena. However, the Hoslow set is one of the best middleweight armor sets in the game, and the Petal Whip is also one of the strongest whips. So if you’re looking to upgrade your arsenal, you should definitely try out this encounter.
