If you’re a returning player or someone who has just been out of the loop for a while now, the latest Fortnite Chapter 5 has the Floating Island Capture Point that you need to claim for one of the Quest tab objectives. Not only will you get high-tier loot by capturing the point during matches, but during that venture, you need to be careful of incoming opponents and when to be ready to go after the Island’s location.
- Author’s Note: I have over 200+ hours across Fortnite, both from my PS5 and PC cross-platform saves, so you can rely on my expertise for this guide.
- The Floating Island Capture Point in Fortnite is an event that occurs once during different occasions in matches.
- Capturing the Point will not only complete a known Quest objective but can also reward you with epic-rarity weapons or items.
- The Floating Island Capture Point in Fortnite Chapter 5 tends to spawn during the last moments of the match.
- The best way to capture the Island, in my opinion, is with a friend or two in Duos or Squads mode.
Location Of The Floating Island
The exact spawn location of the Floating Island Capture Points is completely random during matches as they typically spawn when 10 to 15 teams/players are remaining, at least from my experience.
As shown in the images above, my Friends and I mostly tend to encounter the Floating Islands during the top 10 bouts of each match, but that can depend on whether you’re playing Duos, Trios, or Squads. Sometimes, you’ll get lucky with the spawn location that you may end right next to it, while on other occasions, you may need to travel halfway across the map in order to reach it successfully before other teams or players.
Though it may be high risk, high reward, I strongly recommend going to claim if it does spawn near your location, as the Island gives you epic-tier loot and a height advantage to see across the map.
Strategy To Claim The Capture Point
While it is entirely skill-dependent on whether you manage to capture the point or not, things can go drastically different whether you manage to capture the point in the heat of battle.
Regardless of which, here are a few pointers to keep in mind as you claim your stake on the Capture Point, solo or with your squad:
- The Floating Island tends to take around a minute or two to spawn fully after appearing in the skies, so make sure not to rush after it immediately.
- If playing in Squads, I strongly recommend having at least one teammate being on guard duty near the ziplines in case of opposing team pushes.
- If solo, try to be constantly vigilant of your surroundings and audio to make sure you get the edge on an incoming enemy on the Island.
- In my experience, the vantage point to easily take down opponents was sitting on top of the island’s houses, as shown in the images above.
- Lastly, I encourage grabbing your Capture Point Loot and quickly escaping using the provided Launch Pad in case you get overwhelmed by enemies or the Storm Circle.
This brings me to the end of this brief guide. While you shouldn’t face too many issues with the Capture Point Objective, I mostly found that it was pretty easy to claim when I was playing with my friends or in duos.
