As a sequel to God Of War, people were expecting its sequel to be as good or better. Well God Of War Ragnorok came in hard with its amazing storyline and game animation on both the PS4 and PS5. The most underrated part about it all is the voice acting. All voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok have done an amazing job in portraying their parts in the game.
While well-known voice actors like Christoper Judge, who voiced Kratos, are well-known and appreciated. The other impactful voice actors are ironically “unheard of”. So we are going to be diving into all the voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok in detail.
- God Of War Ragnarok’s voice-acting cast is some of the best in the business and has important roles to fill.
- Most of the voice actors from the previous version of the game are returning.
- This is a spoiler-free article so feel free to search through it without getting spoiled.
- Christopher judge is reprising the role of Kratos in God Of War Ragnarok
- Both Odin and Thor are in the God Of War Ragnarok game, as suspected by the fans.
Christopher Judge As KratosStarting with the God Of War himself (well in his old life) we have Kratos. Yes, the dual-blade god killer who turned into a not-so-humble father to his boy. Kratos is the main protagonist of the game. Carrying deep secrets with him and a constant haunt of his past, Kratos tries to make peace with his past. With such a burden upon him, he is also a father who simply wants the best for his boy.
The depths of the lines, he says, have been quite impactful in the gaming community. He has widely spread into the hearts of the people through the amazing storytelling and voice quips by the voice actor.
His voice actor is none other than Christopher Judge, who has returned as Kratos again. Meaning he voiced Kratos in the previous part of the God Of War series of 2018. Christoper Judge came back to redefine the character and continue to make its impact on the whole world like before.
Aside from doing an incredible part as Kratos, Christopher Judge has previously played amazing parts like Picollo in Dragonball: Evolution movie. A more memorable part would be in Stargate SG-1, where he played Teal’c. It was a significant sci-fi part that made him well-known.
Sunny Suljic As AtreusThe “boy” whom Kratos so cherishes and cares for himself. Atreus or Loki, the son of the god Kratos and Frost Giant Faye, came as sort of a surprise for God Of War players. Nobody expected Kratos, the god butcher, to have a son now, especially after what he did the previous time. Okay, no, we don’t talk about that. Atreus seems to be grown up from what his character was.
He was bratty and childish, and incredibly annoying, but once players started to see closely at the character, he became the heart of the game. After an incredible journey of scattering the ashes of his mother, Atreus is seen teaming up again with his father and ready as ever to face what he truly is. But do not worry. There will be no spoilers of the game whatsoever in this article.
People were surprised to know that Sunny Suljic returns as Atreus in the game. After watching and hearing the mature Atreus, people were confused as to how mature the boy sounds. But then again, Sunny Suljic is one of the best of All voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok. He proves his immaculate voice acting skills by improving upon Atreus’s voice to make him sound more like a teen.
Sunny Suljic is also seen acting in movies like The Killing of a Sacred Deer, in which he played and portrayed the character of Bob Murphy. He portrayed Stevie (Sunburn), the main character, in Jonah Hill’s drama film Mid90s which was also a popular hit.
Ryan Hurst As ThorProbably the most anticipated character in the game. When revealed in the post-credit of the game in 2018, people lost their minds. To think of the battle between Kratos and the God of Thunder himself was something nobody was expecting. Most of the players thought Thor would be a kind of ally since they know Thor as the righteous hero from Marvel Comics.
This version of Thor was derived directly from the original Norse mythology in the world. In it, Thor is basically a ruthless god, just like his father Odin, and is merciless. The rivalry between both the gods really hyped the players of the game. It left them wondering who would be able to pursue such an intense character with the right amount of dreadfulness in their voice.
The answer was actually Ryan Hurst, who so beautifully portrays the role of Thor in God Of War Ragnarok. Hearing his incredible performance as Thor’s voice actor, fans were left stunned. He may be most known to many of you for his unforgettable performance as Opie on Sons of Anarchy, but he has also made appearances in a wide range of films, including The Walking Dead and Bates Motel.
Richard Schiff As OdinAs suspected by players of the game in early 2018 that if their thor is included in the game, Odin himself won’t be far behind. They couldn’t have been more right since All the father himself is in God Of War Ragnarok. He is also perfectly derived from the Norse god Odin in real Norse Mythologies. He, too, in the true sense, is considered the antagonist of the game.
Choosing the right voice actor for Odin was thought to be a bit difficult. Since Odin has been a part of the God Of War prequel, as he was mentioned several times, people expected the studios to figure out the perfect role for the part. They had to be careful as a complicated character such as Odin with so many layers would require an actor with excellence in portraying horror and creepy voice acting.
Well, the studios chose Richard Schiff. An amazingly capable voice actor for Odin. He put all the energy and effort required for the character to work. Schiff is well-known to the majority of you because of his acclaimed performance as Toby Ziegler on The West Wing. He is also famously known for portraying the character of Dr.Aaron Glassman in The Good Doctor T.V series.
Emily Rose As Lady SifGod Of War Ragnarok yet again introduces us to a new character that illustrates one of the renowned figures in Norse mythology. She is the Norse Goddess of earth, a caring mother, and a loving wife to Thor the God of Thunder. Lady Sif finally makes an appearance and the players are keen to discover the true motive of this character.
Lady Sif has a great deal of love for her stepsons Magni and Modi. In the previous God Of War game, players have already heard some references about her from one of the Dwarves. Her long tangled vivid golden hair is one of her eye-catching attributes. The Dwarf even gives an indecent portrayal of her physical appearance. If you have first-hand knowledge of Norse mythology then you will understand the significance of this character within the universe of God Of War.
In God Of War Ragnarok, the voice actor of Lady Sif is none other than Emily Rose. As Lady Sif is one of the key characters in the game, Emily Rose does a wonderful job of executing her role as Lady Sif. She left the audience in awe with her exquisite voice-acting skills. Emily Rose is best known for her role as Audrey Parker in the Television series Haven. She also portrayed the role of Elena Fisher in the Uncharted games. Furthermore, She lent her voice to the character of laulai in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.
Danielle Bisutti As FreyaShe is a mystery woman from the natural world. Freya is a magical being that inhabits a big turtle and uses her magic to change the environment around her. Atreus and Kratos receive assistance from Freya as they travel. She provides them with support, equipment, and guidance as needed. Well, until she flips and shows her true side of an obsessive mother.
In an effort to get revenge on Kratos and Atreus before everything comes to an end, Freya is aggressively chasing them and going after them in God Of War Ragnarok. It is an interesting take on the previously helpful and loving Freya.
In God Of War Ragnarok, Danielle Bisutti reprises her role as Freya. She is a voice actor who is considered pretty versatile. That is why she is considered one of the best of All voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok. Bisutti has worked in a wide range of famous, including Curse Of Chucky and Insidious Chapter 2.
Alastair Duncan As MimirAnd, of course, the semi-dead guy or, more accurately, head annoying you and also guiding you throughout your gameplay is back. Mimir is arguably the smartest man alive in the game, as he suggests, and played an important role in guiding Kratos and Atreus throughout the God Of War Prequel. His important suggestions made sure you required background story knowledge of the game.
His role in God Of War Ragnarok is pretty much the same. Telling tales as old as time, Mirmir makes sure you are never bored during your journey. Although his stories may seem insignificant, they are actually pretty useful. The stories he told connected both the stories for God Of War, which made fans guess the cameo of characters like Odin early on.
As talkative of a personality such as Mirimir’s, it is not easy to portray him without having an experience of Mirmir beforehand. For that very reason, Alastair Duncan returns to reprise his role of Mimir. People truly recognized the artist’s talent by just looking at his splendid performance in the game. He was considered the show stealer making him the obvious option for the comeback.
Alastair Duncan has done many roles in which he shows his true potential as an artist. He portrayed Celebrimbor in the Middle-Earth: Shadow video games, and he took on several parts in the Mass Effect game series.
Robert Craighead As BrokAh yes, the funny yet intimidating dwarf. You might think of him as just a weapons manufacturer, but later on, his story with his twin brother unravels further on. You were able to get multiple armors and upgraded weaponry with the help of Brok at the cost of listening to him brooding. His brother Sindri whom we will talk about more later on, actually proves to be quite his opposite.
As annoying as ever, Brok returns back in God Of War Ragnarok alongside his brother this time. The brotherhood is seen in its ups and downs throughout the game, with a little twist later on. Apart from being really helpful, Brok is quite the favorite among players due to the way he speaks.
The moody weapon maker was voiced by Robert Craighead, and fans would be happy to know that he is returning and reprising the role of Brok. His performance made every player know exactly what kind of a creature Brok truly is.
Apart from the role of Brok, Robert Craigford has done a splendid amount of characters in movies. Robert Craighead is most well-known for his work as a comic actor in TV series like New Girl and Ruthless.
Adam J. Harrington As SindriComing to the twin brother of Brok. Sindri is actually more of a sweet, gullible guy when compared to his brother. His amazing craftsmanship helped clean your dirty bloody axe in the prequel. You could see that he is pure of heart which made Kratos trust him enough to lend him his axe for repair every time. Although Sindri and Brok didn’t come along well, they get reunited in the prequel.
As previously mentioned, Sindri comes back with his brother Brok in a fashioned way. They bring new abilities to the table this time. It means you will be left with incredible weaponry this time too. The brother duo helps Kratos and Atreus to get the right tools to defeat the new danger known as Thor to them. The reunited brotherhood is just really amusing to miss out on.
And, of course, coming back to reprise his role as Sindri, Adam J. Harrington crushed it by being the voice of Sindri. The decent tone he kept throughout the game made it feel so much more realistic the way Sindri talked. Adam J Harrington actually has acted in a couple of movies throughout the years such as S.W.A.T and The Rookie.
Ben Prendergast As TyrThe most talked about god in the previous game was a god named Tyr. The constant mention of his name made you wonder who he actually was. It is revealed by Mimir that Tyr was another God Of War, just like Kratos. Well, not exactly like Kratos because he actually preferred peace. All of the players were excited to know more about the character since they saw him only as a statue.
God Of War Ragnarok made sure to bring Tyr into the game this time as they planned. Although he looks really intimidating, he is considered kind at heart, and when compared to Kratos, well, no comparison to the ghost of Sparta, am I right? He is sort of an ally of Kratos in the game and tends to help them through their journey in the realm.
The studios again made no mistake in casting arguably the best of All voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok. Ben Prendergast may not be a household name, but the majority of gamers are undoubtedly already heard his voice from time to time. He is known for voicing Fuse in the Apex Legends game and, funnily enough, played Patroclus in Hades.
Laya DeLeon Hayes As AngrbodaWithout giving too much away, it can be a little difficult to explain the role of Angrboda. She is a new character who was introduced in God Of War Ragnarok. It suffices to know that she is a Jötunn and that she plays a significant part in the epic tale of Ragnarok. The players who are more familiar with the old Norse mythology may have an idea beforehand of her importance.
You could say she is introduced as a love interest for Atreus and is full of secrets that Atreus doesn’t really know of. The true sentiment behind her intentions seems rather nice, but there is a plot twist waiting for you at the end of the storyline.
The voice actor of Angrboda is none other than Laya DeLeon Hayes. Laya portrays the role magnificently with beautiful aspects of voice acting introduced to understand the character better. The comfort of her voice suits the character of Angrboda.
Over the course of her extremely brief career, Laya DeLeon Hayes has appeared in a number of intriguing children’s movies and TV series. She portrayed Zeena in the TV series Raven‘s Home and Nadine in Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, respectively.
Usman Ally As DurlinAnother new character is challenging to discuss in detail without giving away major plot details. For the time being, it’s sufficient to know that he is a dwarf who, in the game, ultimately ends up playing a significant role despite getting little screen time. He is an interesting take for a character since there is much to know about him in the game; if you listen to Mimir, that is.
Durlin stands at the normal standard of a dwarf’s height when compared to other dwarfs. He is draped in many scrolls which contain important pieces of information, and has a spectacle covering his right eye. The purple octopus he wears on his shoulder is the most unexpected aspect of his look. He is mysterious and cannot be relied on. As the plot continues, you’ll know why.
Of course, a significant portion of Durlin’s appeal stems from Usman Ally’s portrayal of the character. Although comedy liking fans may recognize Ally best for his outstanding performance as Mohammed Al Jaffar on Veep, you may also be familiar with him from his work on TV shows like Suits. All of these made him well-known in the comedy industry.
Chris Browning As SurtrAnother short termed villain you might originally know from Marvel Comics. But he, too, originates from Norse Mythology and has the main role in the destruction of Asgard. Surtr actually takes a certain amount of pride in being the 2nd being born in the universe. With his fire powers, he tends to do every possible harm and cannot be considered one of “the good guys”.
He is in charge of both the fire giants and Muspelheim. In order to be ready for Ragnarok, when he will lead his clan against the Aesir and destroy Asgard, he is concealed deep inside his realm and is continually practicing and polishing his abilities to destroy them. In the game, his role in the act of Ragnarok is kind of important, and later in the game, everything about him will be revealed.
The voice actor choice for the evil Surtr is actually Chris Browning, who has quite a resume, meaning he did a lot of movies. His voice acting really brings the character to life, which is kind of hard considering that Surtr basically represents the destruction of Asgard. Chris Browning’s appearances on Boschand Westworld are likely what makes him more of a well-known actor.
As discussed before, all the voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok have an important role to fill. It is not easy to put emotion and power into such complex characters through the art of voice acting. That is why Sony has chosen the best in the business! Top-of-the-line voice actors whose emotional voice-acting capability can bring tears to the oldest of men.
All of the “OG” God of War players would be happy to know that most of the voice actors from the previous version of the game are returning. With that, they bring back the nostalgia and the incredible voice-acting skills required to make the character impactful. The storytelling of the game is amazingly single-handed by all the voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok.
You, as a player of a game, would love the voice acting of all voice actors in God Of War Ragnarok. It is quite rare to get a cast of such talent for a game. But we all know God Of War is not a game; it is a whole little franchise in itself. If you want to know more about the game, make sure to check out our full review of God Of War Ragnarok.
