God Of War Ragnarok Grabs 10 Nominations At The Game Awards

The game is a strong contender for Game of the Year award.

The Game Awards show is returning this year in December. The organizers have announced the nominations for their 32 award categories. And to no one’s surprise, God of War Ragnarok has stolen the show with the most nominations leaving behind games like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare II.

MAJOR TAKEAWAYS

  • God of War Ragnarok has been nominated for 10 different categories in the Game Awards show, the most for any game.
  • The game is the favorite to win the Game of the Year award, with Elden Ring also in contention.
  • The awards show will be held on the 8th of December. It will be live-streamed on 40 different platforms.
  • A viewership of over 90 million is expected.

God of War Ragnarok, released less than a week ago on 9th November, has been nominated for 10 different categories such as Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction, Best Audio Design, and, perhaps the most important of all, Game of the Year.

The game looks set to win the Game of the Year award just like its predecessor, God of War, which won the award in 2018. It faces serious competition from Elden Ring in the Game of the Year, as the game has been immensely popular with its storytelling and art. It has also just become the fastest-selling multi-platform Japanese game of all time.

God of War Ragnarok has also been nominated for Best Narrative, where, again, it faces Elden Ring as the strongest contender. The game’s main protagonist Kratos’s voice actor, Christopher Judge, has been nominated for Best Performance.

The game has also been nominated for the Best Action/Adventure category where it is up against Horizon Forbidden West. Two remaining categories that God of War Ragnarok has been nominated for are Best Score and Music and Innovation in Accessibility.

The second most nominations have been received by Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West with 7, followed by Stray with 6, and A Plague Tale Requiem: 5 with 5 nominations.

Most nominated games in The Game Awards

The Games Awards will be held in Microsoft Theatre, LA on the 8th of December. The show will have 7000 guests. The show will also be streamed across 40 platforms, where the viewership is expected to reach the 100 million mark.

God of War Ragnarok is currently a PlayStation exclusive, available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
