Alan Wake Is The Newest Survivor In Dead By Daylight

It appears that the upcoming character in the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight will be none other than Alan Wake himself. In a blog post, Remedy Entertainment announced their collaboration with Dead by Daylight developers Behaviour Interactive. Alan Wake will be playable as a survivor in the game and will feature the likeness and voice of Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta respectively.

Figures from both companies gave their statement about the collaboration. Behaviour Interactive cites the original Alan Wake as inspiration for the Dead by Daylight team. Mathieu Coté, Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive, gave the following statement about their collaboration with Remedy: 

Since its launch in 2010, Alan Wake has influenced us on the Dead by Daylight team. Our games already feel connected in many ways. To finally see Alan come to the Fog as a Survivor feels like a full-circle moment.”

Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake also addressed the collaboration as follows: 

We are thrilled and honored to have Alan Wake enter the Fog of Dead by Daylight. The lore of both games is surprisingly compatible, a true match in… hell. With Alan Wake 2 now out, the time is right for another nightmare to begin.”

Alan Wake will go live in Dead by Daylight on January 30. Players who are eager to get their hands on the new survivor early can play the PTB servers until the update goes live. 

This isn’t the first time Alan Wake has made an appearance in another game. Coinciding with the launch of Alan Wake 2, publisher Epic Games gave players who bout the game on EGS a free Alan Wake skin on Fortnite. 

Alan Wake 2 launched last year on October 27th to universal acclaim. Not only was the game a critical darling but it also was the highlight of the The Game Awards 2023, taking away many major awards such as Best Narrative and Best Direction. It also gave us one of the best moments in TGA history. Alan Wake 2 also took home the Critic’s Choice Award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023.
