Baldur’s Gate 3 New Hotfix Has Been Redeployed After Experiencing Unexpected Crashes

The team worked all day to fix this.

Story Highlights

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix #4 has been re-released after being rolled back due to unexpected crashes.
  • Players can safely save and load any file made after the redeployment of this update.
  • The update has brought several fixes concerning some crashes, combat, script, and the game’s multiplayer aspect.
  • One of the more prominent fixes was made to the sleeping companions who wouldn’t wake up from their slumber.

The latest Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix was meant to fix several issues within the game but brought more crashes than ever. This hotfix was then rolled back and has since been re-published as the cause of these crashes has been dealt with. Additionally, any saves made after the hotfix first went live cannot be loaded, but you can safely save from now on. This is the fourth hotfix since launch, and the game’s first patch will follow it.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s hotfix #4 fixed the ability to Long Rest in the Astral Prism, which caused the portal to disappear. Speaking of which, players will no longer be stuck in Long Rest because of companions not waking up. Orin should no longer be getting pulled back from her Temple of Bhaal location if the door was opened before killing Gortash in Wyrm’s crossing.

Several combat fixes have also been included in this update, one of which is increasing Isobel’s HP since she was as fragile as a dry leaf. Gortash should no longer be able to join the combat in Wyrm’s Rock’s Audience Hall while being in his office upstairs. Cruel Sting has also been fixed and should no longer add infinite additional psychic damage to attacks.

As for the multiplayer, characters should no longer disappear when disconnecting and reconnecting in split-screen. Most importantly, new players cannot join without the host’s permission, as hosts will be warned when clients join through the drop-in during character creation. The visibility of multiplayer servers on GOG has also been fixed.

Unfortunately, the hotfix brought some unexpected crashes caused by a build error. The studio then rolled back the update and only recently re-published it as the cause has been addressed. Any saves made after the hotfix went live could not be loaded, so the studio worked hard to address these issues and fixed them within a day. That’s not all; the players have more good things awaiting them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive its first patch, which will bring over a thousand fixes and tweaks, significantly improving the game’s current state. Afterward, the second patch will be on the list, and it should bring some of the more fan-favorite features and requests into the game.
