Story Highlights
- The Witcher 4 is one of the most-awaited RPGs of the decade, with no set release date to look forward to.
- CD Projekt — the game maker — has now confirmed that it’s ramping up the project’s development.
- This is otherwise the “most intensive phase” of the title’s development process.
Following up on the last update shared earlier this year in August, CD Projekt has confirmed fantastic news for fans of The Witcher franchise. A statement in the company’s latest financials report gives away the current state of The Witcher 4—CD Projekt’s forthcoming continuation of The Witcher series and inarguably one of the most sought-after RPGs in the business right now.
I’m proud to confirm that several weeks ago the Polaris team wrapped up preproduction and moved on to full-scale production – the most intensive phase of development. We are very pleased with our progress on this project, and I wish to thank the team for its dedication,” says Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s co-CEO.
Expanding on the matter further, Michał also took to Twitter, asking fans and followers to eagerly await what approaches ahead.
With new challenges just around the corner, it’s the talented and hard-working people who make me believe we can together make the upcoming Witcher Saga a remarkable experience. No stopping now! Stay tuned for what’s on the other side of the coin!” tweets the company CEO.
CD Projekt Isn’t Only Slaving Away On The Witcher 4
That’s right. Project Polaris is what CD Projekt refers to The Witcher 4 as, but there’s another game in the works over at the Polish developers’ HQ that many, many are looking forward to—the sequel to the 2020-released smash hit Cyberpunk 2077 called Project Orion. The company has onboarded several “high-profile” developers to the team to make sure the title turns out beyond expectations.

As for The Witcher 4, the game has no expected release date at the moment, so any guesses of its launch are just that, guesses. CD Projekt has confirmed that the RPG will mark the beginning of a new Witcher trilogy, and it’s possible that fans get to see Geralt of Rivia returning to the big screen in one way or the other.
