Bayonetta’s Ex-Voice Actress Asks Fans To Boycott Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta’s old voice, Hellena Taylor, explained on her Twitter why she isn’t reprising her role in Bayonetta 3.

The first Bayonetta came out in October 2009, and the sequel to that, Bayonetta 2, was released in September 2014. Bayonetta 3, the latest franchise installment, was announced to be released on October 28, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.

Hellena Taylor voiced the main character in the first two installments: Bayonetta 1 and 2. According to her, the franchise earned Platinum Games approximately $450 million, excluding the merchandise. The amount Platinum Games offered her to work on Bayonetta 3 was $4,000.

The voice actress also said she trained for seven and a half years. Hellena clarified that the time and effort she put into her talent was worth much more than the company offered.

Hellena Taylor then asked the fans of the Bayonetta franchise to boycott Bayonetta 3 and, instead, donate the money they were going to spend on the game to charity.

The voice actress clarified that she asked for nothing more than a “decent, dignified, living” wage.

In the second part of the video, Hellena said she is more like Bayonetta than she thought in the past. The voice actress also understood that “boycotting the game is a personal choice.”

However, Hellena Taylor also made it clear that she decided to boycott the game in solidarity with people worldwide who do not get paid for their talent.

Helena also mentioned that she suffered from depression and anxiety. And she was also suicidal because she was afraid of the NDA. At the end of the video, she said she wasn’t scared now, and the best the franchise could do against her was to take her clothes and wishes them good luck in doing so.

Hellena Taylor also posted a third video in which she explained that she was asked to audition again, which she cleared easily. After the audition, she was offered the amount, but she declined and decided to contact Hideki Kamiya, the director at Platinum Games.

According to the voice actress, Hideki Kamiya replied that he valued her contributions and the memory of when he met the voice actress the first time and offered her the final offer of $4,000.

Helena wished Jennifer Hale all the best but clarified that Jennifer had no right to call herself the voice of Bayonetta and sign the merchandise as Bayonetta.

In the fourth and final part of the video, Hellena addressed all her fans and thanked them for supporting her.
