Exoprimal And Dino Crisis Crossover Possible If There Is “Enough Demand,” Says Director

Capcom's new dinosaur game could crossover with the company's other dinosaur based IP.

Story Highlights

  • According to director Takuro Hiraoka, Exoprimal will get Dino Crisis content if fans want it enough.
  • The game’s director explained that the game’s enemy AI, Leviathan, can make a collab happen if demand is high enough.
  • Capcom has already announced a Monster Hunter and Street Fighter collab for the PvPvE multiplayer game.

In a new interview with Siliconera, Takuro Hiraoka, the director of Exoprimal, said that Dino Crisis content appearing in the game is possible, but only if there is enough demand. While talking to the publication, Hiraoka said that the Leviathan entity in the new Capcom title can make anything possible, so if the fans want it a lot, Dino Crisis will crossover with Exoprimal.

Q: Could we see Dino Crisis content come to Exoprimal?

Hiraoka: Leviathan is the type of entity that will go to any means to collect a variety of useful combat data. If there’s enough demand from players, Leviathan very well could make this a reality.”

If you aren’t aware, the plot of Exoprimal takes place on Earth in the year 2040 where dinosaurs have started appearing through portals called vortexes, causing mass chaos. Earth fights back by deploying exofighters, which the players control, and an AI called Leviathan to assist these soldiers. However, in the alternate timeline in which the third-person shooter is set, the AI goes rogue and starts opening vortexes on its own.

Hence, as Takuro Hiraoka says himself, Leviathan can bring any type of being through one of its portals as its influence is far-reaching. In addition, Capcom has already said that there will be several collaborations with the company’s other content in Exoprimal, with Street Fighter being first up in Autumn 2023 when the game’s second season starts.

A collab with Monster Hunter has also been confirmed for Exoprimal’s season 3, so seeing Dino Crisis shouldn’t be that difficult if fans want it enough. During the interview Hiraoka also hinted at some other collaborations he wants, saying Mega Man and Dragon’s Dogma will be fun to see in the multiplayer title due to their connection to his childhood.

I think it would be a lot of fun to have a collaboration with the Mega Man series, which I’ve been playing since my younger days. The idea of going head-to-head with monsters from the fantasy world of the Dragon’s Dogma series personally excites me as well.”

Since its second sequel, Dino Crisis 3, in 2003, the dinosaur-based horror series has been laying stagnant at Capcom. There have been many rumors regarding Dino Crisis 4, a remake, or other new projects in the franchise, but so far none have led to anything. The last update anyone got was Capcom’s lead development telling a fan on Twitter that a Dino Crisis game will only release if a “lot of people wish.

Therefore, a collaboration with Exoprimal may be the best way to reintroduce the series to modern audiences before a new entry. Since its release last month, Exoprimal has been a competent success for Capcom, attracting over a million players in its first two weeks. Hence, there it has a decent player base that the company can expose to a 25-year-old horror series.
