Epic Games has recently announced a myriad of additions that are planned for Fortnite in the future. The news stems from a recent Q&A post held over the official forums, and it has confirmed how the influential team of devs will be upgrading the new Creative mode to whole new horizons. The long list of queries dives into the most anticipated features, and many exciting ideas have been confirmed for Fortnite in the upcoming UEFN updates.

One of the most influential parts seems to be Epic Games’ plan around implementing Virtual Reality support within Unreal Editor. It is not currently on the roadmap for the team, but the idea could still be picked up in the future, as elaborated in the Q&A. Custom AI is also being evaluated by the team after massive fan requests in the past. Adding custom AI will make the new Unreal engine editor an entirely different experience.

The ability to create custom items and weapons is another prospect that the developers are exploring, but it is not coming to the game anytime soon. Talking about custom creation, Epic Games has also elaborated on making custom and interactable HUDs in Fortnite, which could be possible in the future. Epic Games note releasing an update related to this feature throughout this year.

Custom movements and controls are also planned for Fortnite in the future, but no specific dates have been shared for these enticing features. That is not all; creating custom NPCs and creatures will also be possible in one of the future updates for the Unreal editor for Fortnite. These updates will arrive in sizeable bites throughout the year.

This is actively being worked on! We don’t have a set date, but expect to release many of these capabilities throughout this year,” says devs.

Fortnite will also feature the ability to alter the current weapons in one of the future updates. According to the team, the current top priority is the search function for the Discover tab, making it easier for Fortnite players to find specific custom maps. Storm customization, like the Tsunami storm from Chapter 2 Season 2, is also being assessed for the custom maps, but implementing it will be hard and require a lot of time for the developers.

For some technical additions, the memory limit currently in place on maps in Unreal editor for Fortnite will also grow in the coming months. The team is exploring ways to increase it for now. As stated by the team, the ability to permanently delete custom maps from existence will also be a feature. Moreover, Epic Games is exploring ways to deal with “copy maps” and the cheaters currently plaguing Fortnite Creative 2.0 custom maps.

Fortnite has grown massively over the years, and it is showing no signs of slowing down. The recent Creative 2.0 mode update has breathed new life into the game, allowing users to create various custom maps, including the nostalgic Chapter 1 maps fans know and love. A recent interview suggested that the traditional battle royale mode in Fortnite could be going standalone in the future, making Creative 2.0 its own thing.
