Along with the still prevalent horrible matchmaking issues that are plaguing the players of Halo Infinite, there are other complaints from the community as well, such as the lack of content, especially maps. Previous Halo games had many iconic maps but Infinite seems to be lacking.
Halo Infinite’s Forge will come a long way in curing the game’s many ailments regarding the lack of content, as it will hand all the necessary tools into the hands of the players themselves.
Until Forge arrives, it seems that the players will have to make do as the issues don’t seem like they will be going away anytime soon. This was reflected by a comment made by the Community Director of 343 Industries when asked about the issues with the netcode.
Major Takeaways:
- Halo Infinite has had netcode issues for a long time now which have not been resolved.
- With the impending release of the Winter Update, it seems the issues still have not been pinpointed despite the developer’s best efforts.
Halo Infinite’s Online component has had a very rocky life. Its been plagued by many netcode issues, such as terrible matchmaking, severe packet loss, high pings, and others in addition to the lack of content that is already plaguing it.
A Halo Infinite player Tony Ford took to Twitter to ask the Community Director at 343 Industries, Brain Jarrard, about the developer’s progress on fixing these issues as they had submitted a ticket as well but the problems had still been persisting for weeks now.
@ske7ch can you provide an update on the server inconsistencies? Pings move around, unstable packet loss, etc. I submitted a ticket, and it's been going on for weeks now.

Following this, Jarrard replied to Ford’s tweet and the reply he gave certainly will not ease any Halo fan.
Wish I had better news, this has been an ongoing high pri, active issue and widespread investigation with multiple partner teams involved. Thus far it’s been a very elusive and difficult cause to pinpoint. Work continues 🙏

According to Jarrard, this is currently an active and high-priority issue. It certainly will ease Halo Infinite fans that the developer not only realises that it is an important issue but has also given fixing it a high priority.
Moreover, Jarrard states that the issue is not simple, as the developer has still not been able to pinpoint the causal factor behind it. This is despite the fact that the issue has persisted for a long time now and that there are multiple teams working to figure it out but no progress thus far has been made.
Jarrard does say that work on fixing the problem continues, but is it enough to please players of the game? Halo Infinite has had these issues for a long time now and is currently in a situation not fitting for an IP this grand and this important.
Halo Infinite is not a small name in gaming, same as the Halo series is not unknown to many. Halo launched right alongside the first Xbox console among its first exclusives and took the world by storm. It quickly became one of the premier first-person shooters of the time, with its captivating story, likeable characters, and thrilling gameplay.
A very crucial component of Halo games was Forge. Forge is basically a level editor that was launched with Halo 3 and received critical acclaim for its versatility and ease of use. Forge allowed players to create their own maps and a variety of other things. Thus, community-driven development meant there was no shortage of content.
Regrettably, Halo Infinite did not have Forge upon launch for a long time and though it is to be released later, the fact that it wasn’t present upon launch coupled with the lack of content in halo Infinite made players disappointed in the game. It was later leaked and that has led to the many fan creations we are seeing.
343 Industries has still not fixed these two core issues (lack of content and netcode issues) this far into the game’s release. Forge would come a long way toward fixing the problem of the lack of content as it would put the tools right into the players’ hands but it still is far from release.
With the upcoming Winter Update, currently slated to release on November 8, 2022, we may see at least some improvement. The Winter Update will supposedly add network co-op, Forge, and other things to the game.
Hopefully, Halo Infinite will recover and players will get to see the game attain the glory of online gameplay that is befitting a Halo title.
