Larian CEO Thinks Studio’s Next Game Will Be Their “Best Work Ever”

In a new community post on Steam, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke claims the team is already working on two unannounced titles. The devs have largely moved on from the D&D IP and will focus on new prospects. He thinks the unnamed title will be their “best work ever.” It is a huge claim, knowing the critical success and huge number of awards won by Baldur’s Gate 3.

I don’t know if we’re going to pull it off, but looking at our narrative, visual and gameplay plans, I think what we’re working on now will be our best work ever,” said the CEO.

Swen expresses his excitement about Larian Studios’ next work but cannot show anything until the devs progress in development. Until then, Baldur’s Gate 3 will get official modding support in the upcoming Patch 7, followed by crossplay and a photo mode in the subsequent updates. 

After six years in the Forgotten Realms and much discussion and rumination, we’ve decided to seize this opportunity to develop our own IPs. We’re currently working on two new projects and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store.”

If It’s Not Baldur’s Gate 4, What Could It Be?

Since the devs have explicitly denied the possibility of Baldur’s Gate 4, fans are theorizing that we may get Divinity: Original Sin 3 next. But the likelihood is unclear due to the studio’s work on its new franchises. Unfortunately, it’s also unclear whether the future of Baldur’s Gate IP will be in safe hands anymore.
