Leaked Insomniac Games Data Reveals Remastered Titles Are Incredibly High In Demand

The remastered games are mostly purchased by "early adopters."

Story Highlights

  • A leaked Insomniac Games confidential slide confirmed that its remastered games have sold really well.
  • The data also shows that these remastered entries are in demand by “early adopters” compared to new titles.
  • It means that these remastered titles are bought by a huge portion of gamers who buy them as soon as they launch.

The Insomniac Games leak has revealed a slew of details about the inner orifices of the gaming industry so far. Now, a newly surfaced slide has just asserted the unparalleled demand for the studio’s remastered titles so far. As leaked by the Twitter user @FunkyClam, games like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, The Last of Us Remastered, and more have done incredibly well by selling in massive bulks to “early adopters” as soon as they launched.

Early adopters here essentially means the group of gamers that buy a game as soon as it releases instead of hogging it later. The Insomniac Games sales data illustrated in the slide shows a stark difference between the new games and remastered entries. The new titles were not bought by as many early adopters as the remastered ones in most cases. Instead, the number of mid and late-adopters significantly rises for new games.

Additionally, the slides from the leak also include unnamed projects dubbed Game 4 and Game 5, which are likely titles that were third-party or ones that have not yet been released. The Insomniac Games data shows that Sony’s approach to remastered titles has been a gargantuan win despite some rumors. It is no wonder why so many of its game studios have focused on creating remastered collections in this gen compared to the last one.

Usually, a plethora of gamers who fail to purchase the original title go towards buying remastered ones as soon as they are released. It introduces an entirely new audience to the franchise and may compel them to stick around. On the other hand, the veterans in the gaming scene may also purchase remastered titles to satisfy their built-up nostalgia and relive the experience once more through a modern lens.

It is worth noting that despite the results, Insomniac does not appear to have any remasters in the brewer for the current decade. The leaked roadmap responsible for revealing its future projects has no mention of them. All in all, we suggest taking the slides with a grain of salt. Regardless, the leaker is known to be credible and previously shared the slides containing details about the future of PlayStation Plus from the massive Insomniac Games leak.
