Story Highlights
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Insomniac Games’ latest superhero title and a fantastic one at that.
- The game’s latest update has finally brought its long-awaited New Game+ mode and other features.
- This patch, as discovered by players, also includes a secret debug menu with interesting features.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero games you can play right now, and guess what? It just got even better. Insomniac, at long last, has finally put out update v1.002.000 for the title, bringing the highly anticipated New Game+ mode, new suits, mission replayability, a time-changing mechanic (though this did have a workaround already), a bunch of bug fixes, and a lot more. Here are the patch’s highlights:
- Ultimate Levels: Go beyond the base game level cap in NG+
- Symbiote Suit Styles: Unlock new story symbiote suit styles via Ultimate Level progression
- Golden Gadget Styles: Upgrade your gadgets with exclusive Golden looks
- Suit Tech Fusion: Unlock both perks in a shared Suit Tech slot
- PlayStation Trophy Unlock a new trophy for completing the story in NG+
Oh, and not just that, as Insomniac has gone big on accessibility updates for our favorite duo of wall-crawlers. An array of new improvements on that front has made Spider-Man 2 an all-around better game to play, especially for persons with disabilities.
Spider-Man 2 And Insomniac Leaks Have Been Crazy Lately
So, what about that twist I mentioned in the title? As if recent Insomniac Games and Spider-Man 2 leaks and rumors weren’t crazy enough already, it seems that this update has inadvertently put an accessible debug menu in the title, making it possible for players to get into some of the hidden compartments of the game. This, of course, is by accident and will be sorted out by the devs momentarily, of course.

What’s even crazier is that some folks have found traces of a boss battle in Spider-Man 2 that is not actually in the game … yet. That clearly means Insomniac is cooking something nice for the title’s upcoming DLC, which, according to the notorious data leak of the studio from last year, has been confirmed to be in development, along with a number of other projects.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 came out on October 20, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, earning 4/5 in eXputer’s review with author Usama Mehmood remarking, “Spider-Man 2 is a cut above its predecessor, with significantly improved gameplay and a narrative that tugs at your heartstrings.”
