Melty Blood: Type Lumina Introduces Two Characters From Fate Grand Order

Type-Moon Games’ Melty Blood: Type Lumina will add two more characters from Fate/Grand Order to their roster. This time, the characters are the famed Count of Monte Cristo and a famous warrior from Japanese history, Ushiwakamaru.

The Count of Monte Cristo, also known as Edmond Dantes, and Ushiwakamaru were first introduced in the Type-Moon verse by Fate/Grand Order. The Melty Blood: Type Lumina DLC is dated to go live on 15 December 2022.

Fate/Grand Order is a mobile Gacha game. These two additions aren’t the first Fate/Grand Order characters to be part of the Melty Blood: Type Lumina roster. Mash Kyrielight, the first and only shielder-class servant from Fate/Grand Order, is already playable in Melty Blood: Type Lumina.

Both characters carry a lot of history in the Type-Moon verse. Edmond Dantes was the first avenger-class servant released in Fate/Grand Order and was designed by the character designer of the Danganronpa franchise, artist Rui Komatsuzaki.

Ushiwakamaru, also known as Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune, has appeared in the anime Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia. Ushiwakamaru also appeared in Fate/Grand Order: The Grand Temple of Time movie alongside Edmond Dantes.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina confirmed the date and time of the DLC arrival in an official tweet.

The DLC will also add a Boss Rush mode alongside the two new characters. The Boss Rush mode is written by Type-Moon co-founder Kinoko Nasu, the writer behind the famed Fate/Stay Night, Mahoutsukai no Yoru, and several other famous works from the Type-Moon verse.

Type-Moon Games released a preview of both upcoming characters on YouTube. Edmond Dantes fights Roa in his preview; it seems like the Count has fought an alternate version of Roa. However, Roa appears confused by Edmond Dantes’ words and makes it clear that he doesn’t recognize him.

On the other hand, in her preview, Ushiwakamaru displays her exceptional sword-fighting capabilities and speed in her battle against Akiha Tohno. She also thanks Akiha Tohno for a trip around the world. Akiha then responds by saying that Ushiwakamaru should just be grateful for the food and a place to stay.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina is a 2D-fighter game with multiple characters from different Type-Moon universes. The game is available to play on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
