The Need for Speed franchise kick-started the trend of high-octane street racing games. The prominent series undoubtedly reminisces as the insignia of the arcade-racing genre. Unlike some other goliaths of today which focus on realistic circuit racing, Need for Speed blends street racing with nitro-boosted arcade elements. Featuring over 20 games, Need for Speed titles have sprouted among all the popular platforms through the decennia. Likewise, the franchise did not hesitate to expand its horizons on mobile. Electronic Arts is now indulging in developing a wholly new Need for Speed title for mobile.

The rumors about an open-world Need for Speed mobile game budded from the information unveiled in official statements and new employee hires in the midst of 2021. We learned that there were ongoing discussions about the prospect of an open-world Need for Speed mobile title. However, the idea was shelved away due to the ongoing pandemic and the company started focusing on other prominent franchises. However, gameplay footage featuring the rumored Need For Speed mobile game from Tencent Games has now seemingly been leaked, according to a recent post from u/Clxbsport on r/needforspeed.

According to the available information, there are presently only three cars in this game; the McLaren F1, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and the Lamborghini Gallardo. The game is developed in Unreal Engine 4, which job listings have confirmed. The handling of vehicles is comparable to Need for Speed: Edge, including some drift boost effects, while the map is from Need for Speed Heat, but some elements have been modified.

The upcoming Need For Speed mobile game currently has no confirmed story, nor cops confirmed to give players a high-octane pursuit. As it stands now, the game is free-to-play but may incorporate microtransactions. The open-world title has been rightfully compared to Need For Speed Heat. There is no new information regarding the release date, but previous rumors have suggested that the game is supposed to be in the testing phase later this year. Nevertheless, the game looks exceptionally furnished in the leaked gameplay, so a release date might not be far off.
