Last year, we saw some terrific AAA games hit the shelves. Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War Ragnarok were just some of the successful big-name releases. But, one game blew them all out of the water in sales and that was Game Freak’s, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Nintendo‘s blockbuster title did have some issues with performance at launch despite being a commercial hit. Updates and patches have fixed a lot of them and now a new one is releasing at the end of February. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet patch 1.2.0 will add features to Pokémon boxes and fix bugs related to game progress.

Everyone expects Pokémon games to sell well because of how popular the franchise is. But, it’s safe to say that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet exceeded even the wildest expectations when it launched last year. From Italy to Japan, the game obliterated its competition and topped the charts.
Nintendo’s RPG also became the 2nd biggest Pokémon launch of all time in the UK. It did especially well in Japan, selling 2 million units in its first week. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also crossed 20 million units sold worldwide in just 2 months according to the recent Nintendo financial report.
Hence, it was a success beyond compare for the company, but it did have some flaws. After its release, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was review bombed on Metacritic due to severe performance issues. The game was barely playable because of its defects and as a result, the reviews weren’t universally positive.
Game Freak has addressed a lot of issues in patches and updates post-release. Now, a new update has been announced that will affect Pokémon boxes. Patch version 1.2.0 will release in late February for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
It will bring more features to the Pokémon boxes and work on bugs that hamper game progress. Concerning Pokémon boxes, they will have additional functionality now with more customization options for players. You can now change Pokémon nicknames, markings, held items, and mark or ribbon-related titles.
Furthermore, you can now make your Pokémon forget or remember moves and render them yourself. In addition, you can swap held items by pressing the Y Button in the Held Items view. Players can also select “All boxes” while moving stuff in the Party and Boxes and the Held Items screen.
While you are in a Battle Team, the Pokémon participating in the team will have a darker hue on them. A News screen will now also be visible in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet when connecting to the internet from the main menu. Update version 1.2.0 also brings a lot of bug fixes for Tera Raid Battles to the Nintendo RPG.
Bugs causing all your Pokémon to faint despite having health and those preventing your opponent’s HP gauge from reflecting the strength of an attack will get a fix. Moreover, bugs that cause communication errors and joining a Tera Raid Battle with a different Pokémon than the one shown won’t be a problem anymore.
Last but not least, a Tera Raid Battle bug that causes crystals to disappear will no longer bother players.
Now, moving on to bug fixes for Battles, you will no longer get Type matchups against unconscious Pokémons. A Zoroark masquerading as another Pokémon will also not be visible via the Check Target option. When a Zoroark is Terastallized, the type match-up moves will be displayed for the Pokémon the Zoroark is disguised as, the update is fixing this.
Some bug fixes may cause a reduction in people in certain towns and the wild. Your character will now react appropriately to some actions and you won’t have to reopen the game.
Communication errors right after players received their awards in ranked battles will also be a thing of the past in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
When you get Pokémons from Link Trade with another player now, they will follow all your commands. The Pokédex bug preventing it from displaying additional entries for Pokémons you already have won’t be a problem anymore.
In addition, you will not see passersby during certain main-story town battles and other select bugs will not be a nuisance anymore.
