A visual delight with greater consistency.

Story Highlights

  • Patch 1.728 for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is live. It fixes texture streaming issues, and reflection discrepancies while improving overall stability.
  • Ray-tracing on AMD graphics cards was disabled at launch. Insomniac is currently working closely with AMD to enable support as soon as possible.

Insomniac Games has rolled out version 1.728 for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, resolving its texture streaming issues and reflection discrepancies. According to the patch notes, the former resulted in certain textures remaining low resolution while the latter disrupted the experiences via inconsistency. This team of problems had impacted the spectacle and visual charm of Insomniac’s dimension-hopping adventure until now.

Furthermore, other issues were addressed in the latest update as well. These include a problem that caused the interact button prompt to remain invisible on the screen, and visual errors with weapon previews at the vendor when using ultra-wide resolutions. Given the PC port supports various ultra-wide modes, players will now be able to experience Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on higher resolutions without much inconvenience.

In addition to all these fixes, version 1.728 also aims to address other minor bugs. Moreover, Insomniac and Nixxes Software have made efforts to further optimize the game. Rift Apart has proved to be a fairly successful port, in line with the previous works of Nixxes. But it still appears to have some issues although players may consider brushing them off since they aren’t game-breaking.

The PC port of Rift Apart is an achievement due to the ability to run it on modern hard drives and high-spec machines. The PlayStation 5 exclusive’s dimension-hopping system was only possible due to the console’s high-speed SSD, which was one of its kind, back in 2020-2021. Technology has come a long way since then and while SSDs are still the recommendation, the accomplishment appears to be impressive nonetheless.
