- Venom’s co-creator has hinted at the character being playable in the upcoming Spider-Man 2.
- Todd McFarlane, in an interview with IGN, said he would go for Venom to play with while mimicking a controller.
- Although, a long shot, fans think, Todd might have some information about the iconic symbiote’s role in the forthcoming sequel.
Todd McFarlane, the co-creator of the iconic character, has hinted at a playable Venom in the very anticipated upcoming sequel of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Todd had a seat with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 where he was asked about the portrayal of the legendary villain in Spider-Man 2. With an exciting answer, Todd might have implied that Venom would be playable in the upcoming game.
The creator looked visibly impressed by Insomniac’s hard work with Venom’s depiction. When asked about the latest trailer where Venom was revealed to fans, Todd made an implication about playable Venom that left the fans excited about what Insomniac could be cooking at the headquarters.
Oh yeah, no that’s cool, right? I’d play that right… go on shoot, I don’t want that skinny, little Peter Parker dude. I’m going for that big dude over there. Anyone can throw around tanks. Done… done.”

Todd’s statement could have multiple sides but fans were quick to take up the possible hint about a playable Venom, which by the way has been a popular demand.

Another convincing insinuation is when Todd mimics a controller saying, “I‘m going for that big dude over there,” implying that he is playing with Venom. The rest of his body language stays quite electrifying which honestly does not say much about the aforementioned hypothesis. He could just be highly content with Insomniac’s design of Venom. In any case, it’s better to not get too carried away until we have official confirmation.
Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive that has been slated to launch on October 20, 2023.
