Story Highlights
- Alan Wake 2 is the latest installment in the iconic Alan Wake franchise by Remedy Entertainment.
- The developer recently made an announcement, stating that the game’s specs requirement have been lowered.
- You no longer need a minimum RTX 2060 to run the title at low settings; a 1070 will do the trick just fine now.
Alan Wake 2 will no longer need you to sit down and stare restlessly at your PC specs if you want to play the survival horror but know that you’re packing a budget PC. Remedy Entertainment, as per a new post on X (previously Twitter), has optimized the title to bring down its minimum specs requirement, so the title will be available to run smoothly for a broader audience.
We've been optimizing the PC version of Alan Wake 2, and as a result the minimum PC system requirements have been lowered. Please check the updated image!
These changes take effect with update 1.0.16.1, out on PC now.

It bears noticing that the only change made in the PC specs requirement sheet is that of the GPU—the CPU, RAM, and storage counterparts remain the same. Nonetheless, it’s still a fairly welcome feature that a lot of potential players are going to appreciate—that’s for sure.
The Old Alan Wake 2 Specs Requirement Made Players Unhappy
When Remedy doled out the hardware specifications of Alan Wake 2 for the first time back in October last year, the initial user impression dripped in dismay. “An RTX 3070 is starting to become low-end real quick,” wrote one at the time, while another said, “Glad I got the PS5 version. My PC just barely makes recommended.” Here’s the old X post by Remedy that made quite a stir:
On a side note, Alan Wake 2 has rolled over 1.3 million copies over the course of its release, becoming Remedy’s fastest-selling title to date. The Alan Wake community now looks forward to the game’s upcoming DLC, which, as per our interview with studio director Sam Lake, won’t be setting up Control 2’s events, just so you know.
