According to industry insider and leaker The Insider, we may possibly be getting a Resident Evil 4 Remake demo soon. The leaker recently posted a picture of a Resident Evil 4 Demo Disc on Twitter and offered no additional information.
The Insider is comparably a newer leaker to many well-known ones but they have a good number of credible leaks. The leaker leaked that God of Ware: Ragnarok would be released in November of 2022 a few days before the official confirmation was given.
More recently, they revealed the name of all Assassin’s Creed titles that would be shown at Ubisoft Forward, and also leaked the setting of one of them, which even renowned journalist Jason Schreier doubted the credibility of but later confirmed to be true.
Now, The Insider has given us a more cryptic tidbit regarding a possible Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo.

The Insider has given no additional information regarding what they are teasing us about, however, we can speculate that we will soon get a free demo for the upcoming and much anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake.
In recent years, Capcom has released two phenomenal remakes of its classic survival-horror series. We first got a modern remake of Resident Evil 2, which was critically acclaimed upon release and lauded for its changes to the classic game all the while maintaining consistency in the product.
Similarly, Resident Evil 3 Remake was released later and it too received worldwide praise upon release. A peculiar trend seen with these was that before both games were released, Capcom made available free demos of the games for players to see a hint of where the title was heading.
This was seen not only with the remakes but also with Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Hence, to say that Resident Evil 4 Remake will be getting a playable demo is not completely implausible.
Resident Evil 2 Remake got a demo about a week before its release, and RE3 Remake got one a few weeks before release. Releasing demos a bot before release seems to be the trend with Capcom for the RE series currently, as Re Village also got a demo a few weeks before release.
With this one may be led to think that maybe Resident Evil 4 Remake is perhaps nearing release if there is truly going to be a demo soon, but that is highly unlikely. The game was previously slated to release in March 2023, and Capcom has since made no new changes to its plans. However, Resident Evil 7 got a concept demo a full year before release, so it may very well be possible that RE4 Remake will get one too.
As to when we might get this demo, The Insider provides no information. Regarding this, we can also make some speculations. It may be possible that the demo is released as early as a week after today, during Tokyo Games Show.
TGS is a very important game event in the gaming industry, especially for Japanese developers, as they get the chance to showcase their products on their home turf. The importance of TGS is very great for Capcom too. It should be noted that ever since the inception of TGS in 1996, no mainline Resident Evil game has ever skipped a showing.
All mainline entries of the Resident Evil series have had a showing or announcement of some kind at every TGS event, so it would certainly be a bet to say that RE4 Remake will have a showing at TGS one week from now, and who knows, maybe even a free demo.
Seeing as Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the best games of all time, it would not be wrong to say that it is possibly one of the most, if not the most anticipated upcoming game. However, another unknown variable yet exists.
We also do not know whether the demo The Insider is talking about will be a free online demo available for all to check out, or if it will be for limited audiences behind closed doors, such as journalists or special guests. It may even be available for event attendees only, so things remain uncertain.
Know that all of this is purely speculation and until more leakers corroborate this supposed leak, or until Capcom gives official confirmation, there is no way to be sure. However, it would certainly be a treat if a free demo available for all is made available.
Resident Evil is one of the most important gaming series of all time. it may not have invented the survival-horror genre, but it popularised it and pioneered it with mechanics that are still used in horror games of this age.
Similarly, Resident Evil 4 was also a pioneering game that oozed brilliance and was an inspiration for games ranging from Gears of War to the fellow survival-horror Hall of Fame game Dead Space.
The third-person over-the-shoulder perspective was also created and pioneered by Resident Evil 4 and is a hallmark of action games and many other titles to this day. Thus, expectations for RE4 Remake are pretty high, to say the least. We can only hope that Capcom will deliver just as much, if not more, as RE2 and RE3 Remakes.
