Resident Evil 9 Gets Delayed To Late 2025 Or 2026, Claims Prominent Insider

The game is still currently unannounced.

Story Highlights

  • Resident Evil 9 has been delayed to late 2025 or 2026, as claimed by a prolific insider.
  • It is rumored to have been in development for many years and is set in an open world.
  • Multiple other RE titles are also in the works. Do take the rumors with a grain of salt.

The next mainline RE entry, Resident Evil 9, has internally been delayed. It is now slated to come out in late 2025 or early 2026. Multiple leakers corroborated the news, which has now been confirmed by the trusted insider Dusk Golem on Twitter. He initially mentioned a release window of early 2025, but Capcom has pushed it by a good few months. The insider did not share the exact decision for this delay.

It’s also worth noting that the highly awaited horror experience is still far from being announced. Despite previous speculations, the game’s existence will not be revealed this summer or even this year. Additionally, past rumors suggest that Resident Evil 9 has been in development for a few good years and will be an open-world experience.

Multiple Resident Evil Titles Are In Development

An internal Resident Evil 9 delay makes sense considering Capcom is currently brewing multiple RE titles. A Resident Evil 1 remake was also rumored to be in development a couple of days ago, but Dusk Golem has debunked those claims. However, he clarified that Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Veronica remakes are currently in the works

All in all, I still suggest taking the rumors with a grain of salt. Dusk Golem is considered to be a credible leaker in the Resident Evil community, but none of these new entries have been officially announced. So, plans could change internally at any given point. The excitement for all these games is still unprecedented among horror enthusiasts, however.
