Skies Of Arcadia Is Getting Remastered, Claims Insider

Iconic classic RPG Skies of Arcadia is reportedly getting a remaster. The rumor comes from a noteworthy industry insider, Shpeshal_Nick, who recently sat down for a podcast with XboxEra. The insider claims to have seen screenshots of this alleged remaster, thereby confirming to him that a reinvigorated version of the title is currently in the works. Nick begins talking about this at 2:02:28 in the following video. 

Nick quietly whispers at first, “Skies of Arcadia is getting a remaster.” He follows it up by further saying, “I may have seen screenshots of this Skies of Arcadia Remaster.” On the flip side, though, it is later continued, “If this thing doesn’t come out, it’s because Sega chose not to.” 

In the past, however, Kenji Hiruta—one of the devs of the original release—claimed that he was working on something related to Skies of Arcadia. However, he clarified that it’s not specifically a game concerning the Skies of Arcadia franchise that he’s affiliated with, so it is interesting to see reports of rumors for a remaster dropping in now.

While Nick has claimed that “he has got screenshots,” the game does not seem to be currently in development officially. At this point, the remaster is still just a rumor, as Sega reportedly may simply choose not to release the Skies of Arcadia remaster. Therefore, the best course of action is to take this information with a grain of salt.

Fans have been begging for a remaster, and it seems that they might finally get what they wished for if the rumors are true. On that note, the details of the remaster are unclear as of yet. The insider suggested nothing else except the part where he’s seen actual screenshots. 

Skies of Arcadia is a turn-based RPG that was originally released in 2000 for the Nintendo Dreamcast with a port for GameCube in 2003. It was one of Sega’s earliest RPG games that were received well by critics and fans back then. While the game didn’t sell too well, it’s still one of the most appreciated games for Dreamcast.
