Sons of the Forest Sells 2 Million Units Within First 24 Hours Despite Early Access

Regardless of being in early access, Sons of the Forest has sold over 2 million units within the first 24 hours of its launch. Endnight Games tweeted about the milestone on their official Twitter page. 

Sons of the Forest saw its launch on February 23rd, 2023. It is a sequel to the 2014 title The Forest which launched to positive reception. While the first game currently sits at over 350,000 reviews on Steam with an overwhelmingly positive rating, the sequel has also left a grand impression.

Being a title in early access, Sons of the Forest is susceptible to further change. Early access titles often temper a player’s expectations for the game. They realize that it may or may not have some prominent issues and they go into the experience with an open mind.

Despite the label of being in early access, Sons of the Forest keeps climbing up. Not only was it the most wish-listed game on Steam earlier this week, but it has also received a massive influx of players. Furthermore, the game has been positively received by the Twitch Community as many content creators have been streaming the game.

At the moment, Sons of the Forest is sitting at over 25,000 reviews on Steam with a very positive rating. The ratio stands at 86.50%, which is solid for early access. 

Some players have criticized the game for being extremely similar to the original. However, it seems that the majority is enjoying the game regardless of such debate.

Sons of the Forest is a survival simulator where the player must collect resources in order to pull through the hazards of the island. It’s currently in early access so you can expect to see improvements and other changes along the way. The game is out now on Steam.
