The first-person survival horror Stalker 2 has suffered a slew of leaks over the past year or two, allowing the community to keep up with its development amid the delays. As reported by the Reddit user u/andermendz1 on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, over two hours of Stalker 2 gameplay has leaked online. The gameplay videos are from one of the dev builds that surfaced earlier this year.

One of these videos is nearly two hours long and showcases the vast Stalker 2 open world in great detail as the player free roams around the map. There are also a couple of NPC interactions and scenery depicting unexplainable anomalies. The second video is over 12 minutes long. It sticks to unveiling some weapons, inventory, and a map, but it is only available in 720p.

The leaked videos were uploaded months ago but remained unnoticed by most of the community. Much of the revealed content in these videos is subject to change in the final version of Stalker 2, so we suggest taking the leaks with a grain of salt.

Multiple Stalker 2 dev builds surfaced online earlier this year. Only a few images of these leaked dev builds existed in the past. Now, the leaked gameplay has given us a glimpse of all the game had to offer in the early 2023 dev builds. Many fans have found the footage of the old builds impressive for featuring decent gameplay. However, many bugs and peculiarities are also present in the leaks.

It is unclear why and how the dev builds were leaked. One rumor indicates that the devs were distributing an encrypted version of the game to testers via torrent. The dev builds got decrypted and became available for fans soon because the key was found easily in the files. The other, more viable, theory suggests that Russian hackers are responsible for the leak. The devs have previously replied to Russian fans to address blackmail attempts.

The GSC Game World CEO, Evgeniy Grygorovych, has previously expressed that it wants the game to represent “Ukraine’s unbreakable spirit to the world.” While talking about all the challenges the entry has faced since its inception, he called it the team’s “biggest and most complex game” in their life.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been delayed a bundle of times since its announcement in 2018. The decision to delay was recently made again in a new trailer, likely to polish the game up to meet fans’ huge expectations. The post-apocalyptic project is now supposed to be released in Q1 2024 for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC.
