STALKER 2 Devs Respond To Blackmail From Russian Fans

"Attempts to blackmail us are completely futile."

                                                                            Story Highlights:

  • STALKER 2’s developer GSC Game World was recently threatened by a community from a Russian social network to fulfill their demands or else they would leak major portions of the game.
  • The demands were an apology to their Russian and Belarus communities, a Russian translation for STALKER 2 and to have their leaker unbanned from Discord.
  • GSC Game World issued a swift response saying they will not be complying with the aforementioned demands and have asked fans to refrain from distributing any of the leaks.

GSC Game World, the developers behind the upcoming STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl gave a swift response to threats from Russian players saying,

We are a Ukranian company, and like most Ukranians, we have experienced many things that are much more terrifying: Destroyed houses, ruined lives, and the deaths of our loved ones. Attempts to blackmail or intimidate us are completely futile.”

This response comes as a result of another hack in the company instigated by a community from a Russian social network demanding apologies from GSC Game World to their Russian and Belarus communities, a Russian translation for STALKER 2 and to have the leaker unbanned from their Discord.

The response also goes into detail about the frequent harassment faced by the company on a frequent basis due to a plethora of “constant cyberattacks” for over a year, saying that the company has been the victim of blackmail, acts of aggression, attempts to hurt players and fans, and efforts to damage the development process or the reputation of the company.

The full response from the developers can be found ahead.

The developers asked fans to avoid any leaks and avoid distributing anything related to the leaks online.

STALKER 2 Heart of Chornobyl has had a rocky development as the developers continue to struggle against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Back in December, one of the developers at GSC Game World Volodymyr Ezhov, involved in the development STALKER Clear Sky, tragically died in battle while holding off the Russian forces. The company also announced that STALKER 2 will not be sold in Russia.

After a delay due into 2023 with no definite release date, it is rumored that the game will supposedly launch sometime in 2024-2025, however, the developers stay adamant that the game will launch this year.
