Respawn Entertainment‘s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a highly awaited sequel, which ought to be a treat to both Star Wars fans and newcomers alike. The title has recently been confirmed to enhance some of the most intriguing features in contrast to the series earlier release, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
In other words, the Souls-like combat will prove to be a more realistic venture this time around. The notion has been confirmed in a new trailer that features multiple combat stances. However, we also got to see a deep look into how the combat will play out against the unfortunate opponents standing in the way of a Jedi.
To put it bluntly, each enemy can be cut into several pieces with your lightsaber, leaving you with a grotesque cluster fest of enemy limbs flying by your side. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature a more elaborate system to slice and dice enemies with your lightsaber in a total of 5 different combat stances.
Get a rundown on the five different lightsaber stances you’ll wield in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, from single bladed, to dual blades, even to the new blaster stance. We talked with the developers at Respawn to learn all about how these stances play into the combat,” reads the video description.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had Cal use two different lightsaber stances to fend off enemies. However, the number of stances, each with its movesets and fighting style, has been bumped up to ensure a more action-packed time. The increase in the character’s combat prowess also perfectly ties in with the game’s lore.
For instance, each stance may be used in specific scenarios and would put you at an advantage, as noted by the new footage. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will fully upgrade its combat to allow for a more enjoyable venture. Sometimes throwing the lightsaber at your enemies would prove wiser than pursuing close-quarter combat.
The video details the use of each stance and how it will differ from the other available options. Overall, using each of the stances will allow players to entirely dismember humanoid enemy limbs in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which is quite an upgrade in contrast to the first entry.
The players had highly requested the feature after the first game was released, with its combat feeling unrealistic after lightsabers could not penetrate enemy limbs. With the upcoming sequel featuring a darker tone and a more serious story, it would make sense for the developers to finally integrate the highly-needed feature.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is getting a slew of other enhancements as well, including a vast open world, better options to traverse the landscape like rideable mounts, and a diverse enemy variety; all of the inclusions will prove to be a highly prominent upgrade over its predecessor.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was initially slated for a March 17th, 2023, release. However, its arrival was delayed by a few weeks to April 28th to ensure better polishing and final touchups. The entry will reportedly launch on next-gen consoles only in PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Series X.
