Street Fighter 6 Gets The VR Treatment Within 3 Days Of Launch

To the streets.

Story Highlights

  • Street Fighter 6 has received a fully-functional VR mod that enables players to experience the action from a whole new perspective.
  • The quality of this work is similar to what you would expect from an official mode. It goes to show that the effort and passion of community members and modders is second to none.

Street Fighter 6 has just received a whole new way to play thanks to a VR mod. An updated version of the REFramework Mod was released by Praydog that adds fully-functional VR support for the latest entry in Capcom’s legendary fighting game franchise. A video was released showcasing the VR mode in action as the characters duke it out and it’s safe to say that this work is highly impressive.

Capcom hasn’t officially released anything related to VR support for Street Fighter 6, but the mod is built and implemented in a way that appears to be something released by official sources. This also ties into the fact that the inclusion of this mod comes only a few days after the global release of the title which is an impressive feat in and of itself.

Street Fighter 6 serves as Capcom’s answer to everything that it did wrong with its predecessor—Street Fighter V. This includes everything from single-player content to graphics and quality-of-life features. SF6 includes a well-crafted roster of characters at launch with 4 additional ones on the way for Year One. Not only that, the way it has managed to make it accessible for new players is a great achievement.

The VR mod adds a new layer of immersion to a game that already doubles down on that factor. Based on the showcase video, the mod pulls you in and places you on the stage, making you feel like one of the spectators in the background gazing at the legendary fighters as they clash in combat. Even though this is impressive, players may be hard-pressed to use it in a more practical form.

Street Fighter 6 kicks off the new era of fighting games on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and last-gen consoles. Read on to find out how Capcom managed to make this one the perfect fighting game.
