Tekken 8 Reveals Marvelous Lee Chaolan Being As Cool As Ever

The trailer also showcased a very interesting robot in one of Lee's winning cutscenes.

Story Highlights

  • Tekken 8 releases Lee Choalan’s trailer in marvelous fashion.
  • Only Devil Jin is yet to receive a character trailer out of the launch roster.
  • Tekken 8 is set to release on January 26, 2024.

Bandai Namco has finally dropped Lee Chaolan’s gameplay trailer, and he looks just as stylish as ever despite the drastic costume change. His new look isn’t just for show, as it appears he’s got a lot of excellent new tricks up his sleeves this time. Now, the only character out of the launch roster that has yet to receive a gameplay trailer is Devil Jin.

The trailer showcased a brand-new stage that is supposedly Lee’s own mansion. Portraits and statues of Lee Chaolan can be seen all over the stage. Furthermore, the trailer also featured a special intro between Lee Choalan and Lars Alexandersson. During the special intro, Lars encourages his adoptive brother not to hold back anything and to go all out against him.

Judging from the trailer, some of his moves have a blue spark effect in and outside of Heat mode. His Heat Smash is also somewhat unique as it starts from a low attack. There are only a few characters that have a Heat Smash that starts from a low attack, such as Kazuya Mishima. Lee Chaolan’s one of the biggest strengths in Tekken 7 was his keep-out tools, and he appears to have retained that strength in Tekken 8 as well.

Lee’s Rage Art, the move that becomes available when the character is in low health to give them a chance to bounce back, can only be explained in his own words, “Marvelous.” Lee throws a hand grenade towards the enemy, which then explodes into their face into a massive rose. Towards the end of the trailer, we can see the winning animation where he calls out to “Hachi,” which appears to be a robot butler resembling his adoptive father’s head.

Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 is set to launch in less than ten days on January 26, 2024. The game will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC. Devil Jin’s gameplay trailer might be dropping any day now since he’s the only character left without a gameplay trailer of his own.
