Valorant 5.12 Update Brings Several Prominent Changes To Agents

Valorant's 5.12 update brings various changes to Agents along with a few gameplay changes.

Riot Games released Valorant’s 5.12 update, and the patch notes are live for everyone to see the changes. The latest update is focused mainly on Agents and their abilities. However, the update also focuses on game modes, weapons, and bug fixes.

Riot Games also clarified that Valorant’s 5.12 patch would be the last one released before 2022 ends. Patch 6.0 will be the next upcoming update that will likely go live in January.

Major Takeaways:

  • Valorant 5.12 update focuses mainly on changes to the Agents.
  • Out of all Agents, Chamber has seen the most adjustments.
  • Valorant’s 5.12 update will be the last one this year.
  • Update 6.0 is expected to go live in January.

After the Game Changers Championship concluded, now is the time for Riot Games to make some changes to their Valorant Agents.

The major highlight of the Valorant 5.12 update is that Agent Ultimates with site-wide footprints have seen an increase in cost. This change makes the usage of these ultimate less frequent and allows the opponent team to easily counterplay against them.

Several destructible objects have seen some adjustments to their HP. Now, using their abilities, Agents like Viper won’t instantly destroy the most destructible objects. However, you’ll still be able to destroy these objects with one bullet in most cases.

Raze’s Boombot and Fade’s Prowlers have seen a reduction in their HP and will require fewer bullets to destroy.

Killjoy’s Lockdown has been buffed with an HP increase to reduce the number of Agents’ abilities that can destroy it on their own.

Among Agents, Chamber has seen the most adjustments. Chamber’s Headhunter, Rendezvous, Trademark, and Tour De Force have seen several nerfs and adjustments.

Aside from that, many hero abilities have seen some cost adjustments to make it easier for the player to purchase them in Pistol rounds.

The update also brings damage interaction changes. Agent abilities that do damage will now also affect other objects that can be damaged, with a few exceptions.

For example, you’ll now be able to use Pheonix’s Hot Hands to damage Cypher’s Trapwire, Fade’s Prowler, and several other damageable units.

The amount of damage these Agent abilities will be doing to destructible objects has also been adjusted. These adjustments will help in preventing the instant destruction of the enemy’s utility.

Several abilities are now immune to damage from allied sources, including Chamber’s Rendezvous and Trademark.
