Dragon’s Dogma 2 Receives Promised Fixes On PS5 And PC; Patch For Xbox Delayed

No improvements to frame rates yet, sadly.

Story Highlights

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Capcom’s latest JRPG and a sequel to the first Dragon’s Dogma from 2012.
  • The game is off to a mixed start, as players gather to voice their concerns on the title’s various issues.
  • Capcom, while listening to the community, has now released a new patch that brings multiple fixes.

Over 6 days ago, Capcom laid out plans for Dragon’s Dogma 2, detailing how the mega-popular industry tycoon intends to fix some of its most immediate issues. Today, that patch has rolled out across the board for PlayStation 5 and PC players, save for Xbox Series X|S users who will get the update in “the next few days.” Head on over to this page for the full patch notes, but keep on reading for the gist of it.

Here are the changes that Capcom has applied to Dragon’s Dogma 2 on both its PC and PlayStation 5 counterparts simultaneously.

  • Adding the option to start a new game when save data already exists.
  • Changing the number of “Art of Metamorphosis” items available at Pawn Guilds in the game to 99.
  • Making the quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (where they can save and rest) available earlier in the game.
  • Miscellaneous text display issues.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

As far as the PS5-specific improvements are concerned, the ability to toggle the Motion Blur and Ray Tracing features has now been added to the game. Similarly, PC players can expect the resolution of “an issue related to the display of models under some specific settings” and improved graphical quality when “DLSS Super Resolution is enabled.”

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Set To Receive Plenty Of More Updates In The Future

Capcom has explicitly stated that the enhancements brought about in this update “won’t affect frame rate significantly” and patches to improve things on that front are planned for the near future. Sit tight until that happens, or bide your time constructively and learn how to increase your carry weight in the game instead.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 came out on March 22, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. eXputer rated the RPG 4.5/5.0, with author Huzaifah Durrani remarking, “While its performance issues may be disappointing, do not let that detract from the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is still one of the finest RPGs ever made.”

New players should certainly know how to get Mystic Spearhand in the game, probably one of the most OP Vocations in the JRPG right now.
